      About The Role:

      Under the direction of the Event Operations Manager, the Event Operations Supervisor oversees the Cleaning and Building Services staff to ensure performance, cleanliness, and operational standards at the Convention Center, maintaining quality and consistency.

      This role is vital for the success of events at the San Diego Convention Center. It collaborates with Event Managers to deliver exceptional customer service and manages ancillary resources to meet client needs before, during, and after events. The supervisor coordinates and supervises cleaning and setup crews, ensuring safety protocols are followed. The ideal candidate is motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team in planning, problem-solving, and organizing work.

      Schedule:

      • 2nd Shift (3:00 pm to 11:30 pm)
      • Thursday through Monday
      • Must be able to work all three shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with potential rotation

      What You Will Do:

      • Supervise 5 to 100 employees in Facility Services, depending on activity and shift
      • Plan, direct, and supervise work assignments for efficient building setup, breakdown, and cleaning
      • Prepare daily work assignments
      • Train employees on performance standards, safety, and equipment use
      • Monitor employee performance and conduct coaching/counseling as needed
      • Document cleaning and setup activities per protocols
      • Develop staff assignment strategies for shift continuity
      • Use and update CMMS for work orders and service requests
      • Manage staffing and tasks via smartphone applications
      • Review timesheets for accuracy and attendance
      • Oversee inventory levels of building supplies
      • Maintain organization and cleanliness of storage areas
      • Perform routine inspections of all facility areas
      • Supervise setup and breakdown of event equipment, ensuring quality standards
      • Maintain service records and thorough shift passdowns
      • Ensure proper care and use of uniforms, equipment, and supplies
      • Provide safety training and ensure compliance with regulations
      • Perform other duties as assigned

      What You Will Need:

      • Associate degree or equivalent; one year of supervisory experience or relevant industry experience
      • Ability to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
      • Self-starter with ability to work independently
      • Knowledge of custodial materials, methods, and equipment preferred
      • Experience supervising staff and managing performance
      • Excellent communication skills in English
      • Strong interpersonal skills for diverse teams
      • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheets
      • Knowledge of CMMS and smartphone applications preferred
      • Physical ability to navigate the facility, handle objects, and perform manual tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds
