- Be available to work occasional after hours and weekends as needed
- Be able to operate a 50-channel mixer with multiple outputs for monitors, special effects equipment, and sound reinforcement
- Have in-depth experience with Windows operations systems
- Proficiency with using various web-based platforms for data entry, monitoring, and reporting
- Have experience with various audio-visual technologies such as projectors, displays, control systems, etc.
- Be successful communicating and interacting with all campus populations including students, faculty, and staff
- Provides technical consultation for event planning and tours. Coordinates equipment needs for events (sound, lighting, visual components)
- Provides on-site support during events to insure delivery of equipment and technical services and troubleshoot problems that may arise
- Maintain and manage the technical resources in the Hurd Welcome Center including the Experience Pillars; including the ability to analyze software issues and provide technical support, troubleshooting and solutions. In addition, assist in configuring and testing of facility devices to ensure that these are consistently operating to their full intention
- Hire, train, and supervise student workers to support programming needs of events
- Support Institutional Events outside of the Hurd Welcome Center as needed
- Supervise the installation of rigging to raise, lower and support audio, lighting and scenery through the use of cables, ropes, blocks, chain motors, etc.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
What We’re Looking For
Baylor University’s Institutional Events department is seeking a full-time Event Technology Specialist to join the team. As the Event Technology Specialist, you will support the mission of Baylor University by providing technology consultation and event support for the Hurd Welcome Center. You will primarily serve the technical needs of events and programs hosted by Institutional Events, Admissions, and Advancement. Additionally, as a successful candidate you will demonstrate the following:
A Bachelor’s degree, three years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Master’s degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
