Under oversight of Special Event team, coordinate a portfolio of internal events from booking to completion, including liaising with the host departments on event planning processes, booking dates, coordinating vendor proposals in adherence to budgets, drafting floor plans, securing necessary approvals, and overseeing day-of event execution onsite.
Partner with internal stakeholders such as Security, Buildings, Curatorial, Media Services and external vendors to manage all production aspects of events including catering, A/V, décor, and entertainment to ensure that all plans are reviewed and approved in adherence with The Met’s guidelines which prioritizes the safety of the building and artwork.
Facilitate Museum wide communications on all event plans including the event write-up, production schedule, floor plans, and vendor details for load-in and load-out.
Administrative duties such as responding to client inquiries, vendor billing, write-up distribution, calendar maintenance and other tasks as assigned
BA degree or relevant experience required
Demonstrated experience in managing high-profile events, preferably in a Museum setting
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communications, and writing skills
Very strict attention to detail
Outstanding problem-solving skills
Ability to work well in a fast-paced ever-changing environment
Ability to be onsite for events and to lift up to 20 pounds as needed
Availability to work early and/or late hours, long days, and on weeknights and occasional weekends based on the events schedule
Experience drafting detailed communications, such as briefing forms and production schedules
Computer literacy and knowledge of data management software (Microsoft Office, Artifax or other calendar software) required
Pay Rate: $33.00 / Hourly

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Special Events team at The Met produces over 350 events annually of various size, scope, and scale. As the Events Coordinator, you would be responsible for the coordination and production of all logistical aspects of internal events within your portfolio and administrative duties as assigned.

Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
