- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Computer/data entry and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in exhibition installation and maintenance
- Knowledge of and experience with power and hand tools
- A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in fine art studio, art history, art education, museum studies or a related field
- Employee must be able to move freely about the work site and perform routine physical and manual tasks associated with the position including the ability to lift 50 lbs. daily
- Employee must be comfortable on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts up to 20 feet from the ground
- Employee must be able to drive to all Art Center locations, including IAC and FAC, with or without company owned vehicle
- Maintain organization of exhibition storage areas, gallery prep, and digital database (60 days)
- Proficiently execute installs and de-installs (2 Exhibition Rotations – Approx. 6 months)
- Build and maintain relationships with working artists through proficient communication (1 year)

Job Summary :
Execute the organization, installation, curation, and maintenance of exhibitions at all locations including Indianapolis Art Center (IAC) and Fishers Art Center (FAC). Assist in creating programmatic elements for exhibitions. Serve on the artist committees for events including the OneAmerica Broad Ripple Art Fair. This position is for 40 hours.
Job Responsibilities :
• Organize and process artist and exhibition data including insurance coverage, contracts, data collection, exhibition scheduling, expenditure reports, and purchase reports.
• Communicate with artists and other professionals via in person, email, and phone.• Leads and/or assists with installs and de-installs at both IAC and FAC.
• Collect and organize necessary information for wall texts, signage, object labels, programs, etc.
• Work with Marketing on Call for Entry promotions, signage and vinyl ordering, photography needs, website needs, etc.
• Perform routine gallery and gallery prep maintenance, organization, lighting, painting, and dusting.
• Complete condition reports as necessary.
• Assist in managing the Student and Community galleries at the IAC.
• Conduct studio visits with the Exhibition Programs Manager as needed.
• Guide tours of exhibitions and/or ArtsPark as needed.
• Assist in keeping inventory of exhibits materials, supplies, donations, and hardware at IAC and FAC.
• Serve on the artist committees for IAC and FAC events and exhibitions.• Facilitate office hours at both IAC and FAC locations as needed.
• Assist with communication between Exhibitions and Guest Services in regard to artwork pick up, call for entry processes, exhibition sales, etc.
Additional Job Functions as needed:
• Assist with preparation for upcoming Indianapolis Art Center events
• Assist with data entry for the online platform for selling artwork
• Interact with students and guests, providing insight to current exhibitions and ArtsPark exhibits
• Assist artists, students, and purchasers with artwork pickup after exhibit closes or class ends
• Work with Education to create programmatic elements for exhibitions
• Work with Education and Events to program artist talks, workshops, visiting artists, etc., as neededCompetencies Required
1. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills required with a strong ability in public speaking, especially with artists and patrons in person and via phone and email.
2. Relationship Building: Interpersonal skills which can be utilized to engage with artists, patrons, and fellow team members.
3. Time Management: Strong ability to manage multiple projects and calendars to ensure on time completion working independently and as part of a team.
4. Professionalism: Focus on positive communication and teamwork in order to execute and meet all job responsibilities.
