Set the vision and direction and raise the bar for the work.
Have a strong point of view on visual design and content design.
Be hands on designing UX and UI in Figma
Implement strategies in a complex ecosystem, as well as the have expertise of blending the art and the science of a well-crafted experience
Partner directly with the Digital Product leaders for our mobile app, online banking, public site, and product sales and servicing
Coordinate cross channel initiatives
Build and own product-driven design
Develop and lead a team of design professionals to execute the vision
Act as a senior strategy and business leader capable of working cross-functionally across all levels of the organization to execute enterprise-wide strategic programs
Demonstrate an ability to build out high performing teams
Act as a trusted and credible advisor and strategic partner to the SDI leadership team and business leaders with regard to the responsibilities of this role
8+ years of Website or Application Design experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of Management experience
Experience in one or more of the following: digital customer experience, digital product/program management, digital platforms, or digital consulting
Demonstrated mastery/expertise in Product Strategy in at least three of the following: Interaction Design, Visual Design, Product Strategy, Information Architecture, Content Strategy, User Research, or Prototyping
Experience directing digital experiences for large financial services platforms
Experience leading a program of work across multiple teams through the full product development cycle (discovery, concepts, prototyping, execution)
Experience overseeing the output of multiple products or channels (e.g., digital/physical), preferably in multiple industries
Elite storyteller and communicator with ability to quickly craft Board and OC level materials with minimal direction and iteration. Ability to consistently articulate a strong design rationale
Ability to connect design decisions to broader strategic and business decisions
Comfort presenting to all levels of seniority
Experience managing creative design efforts in a complex environment
Experience with managing agency and 3rd-party relationships a plus
Honed analytical skills coupled with proven problem solving capabilities
Past success developing frameworks for metrics, dashboards and associated reporting at the division/enterprise level
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to shape and drive work independently
Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can adapt and adjust to real-time shifts in priorities and work-flow
Proactive problem solver with a bias toward execution and a strong sense of urgency (demonstrated track record of getting things done, while building bridges, despite the obstacles in their way)
Proven and demonstrated leadership skills including relationship building, change leadership, partnering and collaboration skills with clear ability to influence, gain buy-in and negotiate with a diverse group of key business partners/leaders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior management and ability to articulate key messages in a straightforward and understandable manner
Ability to energize and motivate others; thrives in teams; highly inclusive and collaborative with proven ability to lead through influence vs. authority
Proven success driving objectives requiring a high level of cooperation from other parts of the organization to collaborate, initiate action planning and manage change
A curiosity mindset: up-to-date in digital global and local trends; fluency in the strategic impacts of a changing digital and media landscape

This position is a hybrid work model and will not be a telecommute position. Must be willing to work out of Charlotte, NC, New York, NY or San Francisco, CA approximately 3 days a week

About the Role:
This is a XD Design Director role for the Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) team within Consumer Digital Channels. This leader will help set the vision and direction and raise the bar for the work, leading by example and inspiring the teams. A strong point of view on design is essential, hands on experience, implementation of strategies in a complex ecosystem, as well as the expertise of blending the art and the science of a well crafted experience. This leader will be a strategic partner to our Digital Product and Platform leaders and will work collaboratively across the Consumer practice to ensure connectivity and best practices are being followed for Wells Fargo’s customer base. She/He will focus on product-based design and help build out the needed specialization within our client experience in an agile design model. This leader will create frameworks, forums, and operating norms to effectively run the business while providing leadership to drive a best in class design organization in addition to thought leadership across our new growth areas. She/He will have a deep understanding of the Consumer client base and experience running communication design and behavioral testing.In this role, you will:
