  Position Summary

  The Solution Architecture (SA) leads all technical aspects of an Information Technology project. The Solution Architect uses expertise in multiple technical areas to document the technology solutions that meet the business needs of PG&E. The technical documents ensure requirements are met in an efficient, sustainable and adaptable manner. The Solutions Architect operates across organizational and computing areas driving efficient, standards-based architecture supporting PG&E’s business goals. The Solutions Architect delivers solution blueprints that include the conceptual, logical and physical layers of the process, application, information, integration, security, and infrastructure views of the architecture. Partnering with Project and Program Managers, the Solutions Architect is the primary technical decision makers on projects. The domains of Business, Information, Applications and Technology are all considered by the Solution Architect; with an emphasis on Application, Information and Integration. Overall risk mitigation and total cost of ownership are managed from an enterprise standpoint. Domain and Project SA’s are under the overall guidance of the Line of Business SA’s and all architects participate in the overall IT Architecture Practice regardless of their location in the IT organization.

  PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

  A reasonable salary range is:

  Bay Area Minimum: $129,000.00

  Bay Area Maximum: $207,000.00

  &/OR

  California Minimum: $123,000.00

  California Maximum: $197,000.00

  This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

  Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the development (e.g., iOS, Node.js, SAP) team in a hands-on way, by coaching and mentoring other team members
  • Provide technical feasibility assessment while collaborating with Product Owner and Design team to guide features and provide technical know-how
  • Evolve technical vision to incorporate new technologies
  • Makes tradeoffs among tech options to balance risk (execution, support, vendor, TCO
  • Debug and optimize complex applications on real devices
  • Effectively communicate the vision and architecture to team members
  • Maintain a productive working environment for development teams
  • Be a strong advocate for a culture of quality across Digital Catalyst
  • Follow an agile development methodology.
  • Reduce single points of failure in team

  Qualifications

  Minimum:

  • 7 years in IT
  • 4 years of solution architecture and project implementation experience.
  • Proficient in the solution architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices
  • Exposure to a process improvement discipline (e.g. Six Sigma) used within a technology supported business process implementation
  • Experience providing direction to design and engineering staff
  • Experience with enterprise architecture tools
  • Understanding of the Utility Industry and how technology is used within business processes
  • Project-based process design, information modeling and / or system solution architecture in at least one of the following: Application Architecture, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Information Architecture, Data Management, Security, or Infrastructure technologies
  • Operational support for applications, systems, or infrastructure.

  Desired:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working as an Agile/Technical Lead in an Agile environment
  • Experience with developing solutions for Mobile applications
  • Experience with GIS is a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or ESRI a plus
  • Experience with AWS, Integrations is a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and a strong work ethic
  • Very strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to build strong relationships with and influence at the Director level of leadership
