Job Type DescriptionVacancies exist for five pre-school special education teacher based upon student enrollment/needs for the Special Education Extended School Year Program which will be held at the Orchard View Intermediate School. Teachers will be responsible for supervising service personnel assigned to programs and instruction in cognitive language, self-help, fine and gross motor skills, and personal/social skills as identified as critical skills areas. Berkeley County Pre-K programs use Creative Curriculum. In addition, foster physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth; develop class and safety rules and procedures; monitor student progress; complete and maintain appropriate records; and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Salary Schedule
Berkeley County Schools Teacher Pay Scale based upon degree level and verified years of experience.
Sick Leave BonusExtended contract days (summer school) will become a part of the number of days worked in a fiscal year and affect allowable days absent. Employees working extended contracts (summer school) who take leave without pay (dock), personal leave (leave without cause),personal illness, bereavement, maternity leave, and labor action (strike) shall constitute days absent toward eligibility in participation in sick leave bonus pay.
Qualifications RequirementsMust be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to be a qualified and effective candidate for the vacancy.
Holds or can obtain West Virginia Teacher certification in pre-school special needs.
Ability to collaborate with others and work closely with the County's Pre-K program director and staff, parents/guardians, classroom aides, Pre-K team at the school, and other pertinent personnel in order to best meet the needs of students. Professional traits such as strong organization skills, flexibility, patience, and personal responsibility are important to be a successful. Effective verbal and written skills, and interpersonal skills are required.
