The candidate will function as a F-35A/B Contract Instructor Pilot (CIP) at Amendola Airbase, Italy. The candidate will report to the site’s Training Operations Manager (TOM), assist with daily operations and complete assigned tasks, as directed. In addition to annual successful performance salary merit increases, this position is eligible for Lockheed Martin’s Employee Annual Incentive Plan (EAIP) for successful performance. This is an OCONUS assignment; telework is not possible with this position.
The candidate will provide various levels of instruction and support to Italian Air Force (ITAF) and Italian Navy (ITN) pilots operating from Amendola. The candidate will execute assigned work, coordinate daily/long-term schedules, assist with courseware and training program development, lead peer reviews, and assist with instructional materials production. The candidate will be fully qualified to instruct academics in a classroom environment, and provide instruction from the Instructor Operating Stations (IOS) or from within the pilot training devices.
CIPs will be the focal point for technical content of applicable F-35 courseware for development and revisions. Their in-depth knowledge of Joint Technical Data (JTD), service publications, and aircraft systems will allow them to provide accurate and consistent lesson content across a broad spectrum of training materials. Their understanding of syllabus flow and lesson content will help streamline training delivered to formal course students.
Specifically, CIPs will provide or execute the following:
• Conduct an array of F-35 continuation and upgrade training for ITAF and ITN pilots.
• Instruct and lead select ITAF Mission Qualification Training (MQT) missions.
• Instruct and lead select ITAF Flight Lead Upgrade (FLUG) missions.
• Conduct required CIP-designated syllabus (FRS) tasks for the ITN’s Basic (CAT-I), Transition (CAT-II) and Senior Officer (CAT-III) formal courses.
• Conduct academic and pilot training device instruction that covers applicable syllabi and instruction guide requirements, and adheres to published training/readiness standards.
• Instruct academic training utilizing Electronic Mediated Lecture (EML) and/or Interactive Courseware (ICW), and instruct flight procedures in the Pilot Training Devices.
• Operate and instruct from the Instructor Operating Stations (IOS), or from within the Full Mission Simulators (FMS) / Mission Rehearsal Trainers (MRT); i.e., flying the sim.
• Evaluate and record student academic training, verbally debrief errors committed, and coordinate corrective action and remedial training with supervisors, as needed.
• Conduct student academic evaluations IAW applicable syllabi and correct to 100% by reviewing incorrect responses with students.
• Be available to assist students and conduct aircrew training device missions when not scheduled for formal instruction (academics or sims), or courseware development.
• Maintain F-35 platform, tactics and weapons system expertise, and device qualifications.
• Provide IOS mission replications, including, but not limited to, Forward Air Controller, Airborne Intercept Controller, Air Traffic Control, and threat simulation.
• Support lesson plan and mission guide revision efforts to meet suspense dates.
• Support aircrew training device scenario design and programming efforts.
• Assist with and be an expert for all pilot training courseware updates.
• Coordinate lesson revision inputs with CIPs and Courseware subcontractors, as needed.
• Work closely with Lockheed and Italian training teams to fulfill F-35 training objectives.
• Implement and support Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs and policies, as directed. • Must have an active secret clearance with a completed (adjudicated) investigation within last 5 years.
• Must be able to attain and maintain F-35 Special Access Program (SAP) access.
• Must have experience as a Military Instructor Pilot (MIP) and multi-ship flight lead in tactical fighter aircraft.
• Must be willing to support flexible work hours to align with the customer’s schedule.
• Candidate may participate in deployed operations to support customer requirements.
• Strong, proven verbal communications, and Basic MS Office suite skills.
• Proven successful experience with instructional products and services, evaluating pilot training and leading student pilots. • Experience with F-35 program highly desired.
• Experience with F-35 pilot training curriculum.
• F-35 system knowledge
• F-35 Full Mission Simulator experience
• Minimum of 1,000 hours experience in fourth and/or fifth generation fighter aircraft as a pilot (F-22, F-35, F-15, F-16, F-18)
• Prior experience delivering Military Pilot Academic and Simulator Training in fourth and/or fifth generation tactical fighter aircraft.
• Experience with advanced sensor systems such as NVS, LANTIRN, Helmet Mounted Cuing, and the latest weapons inventory.
• Graduate of formal military Academic Instructor Course (AIC).
• Formal Training Unit (FTU) or Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) instructor experience.
• Fighter Weapons Instructor Course (FWIC), Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) or Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) graduate.
• Standardization/Evaluation Flight Examiner (SEFE); NATOPS Evaluator experience
• Experience with Training Management Systems and Learning Management Systems.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 12 years or more of professional experience; or 10 years of professional experience with a related master’s degree.
