The Opportunity: Canadian Natural is looking for a Facilities Engineer for our Grande Prairie field office. You will work with a dynamic group of professionals in the Facility, Operations and Production teams to engineer and construct new or expand/optimize existing facilities in Canadian Natural’s Western Canada conventional assets. Your work will include identifying opportunities for enhanced production, reduced costs, improved reliability and safety, debottlenecking, greenhouse gas reductions and implementing new technology. There is significant career growth potential by applying your understanding of conventional oil and gas facilities supporting projects and optimization opportunities in Western Canada. Key Accountabilities: - Promote innovation with Operations, Maintenance, Facilities and Production Engineering input ensuring optimal technologies and designs are used for each facility application - Encourage safety awareness and actively promote field safety during your regular trips for project work plus operations and maintenance support - Be knowledgeable and work accordingly to all applicable Codes, Guidelines, Directives and Regulations - Manage new and sustaining capital projects plus optimization initiatives from scoping to close-out (including all permit and regulatory applications) through Canadian Natural’s Management of Change program - Provide technical support for Operations and Production such as identifying applicable code and company standards, material specifications, troubleshooting and problem solving of facility issues - Participate in the area production team meetings to ensure alignment of goals and priorities with front line staff as well as liaise with operations superintendents and field foremen plus production managers on work prioritization - Authenticate your engineering work as per CNRL’s Professional Practice Management Plan and APEGA requirements Other Details: - Job location: Grande Prairie, Alberta - Shift schedule: 5 x 2, Monday - Friday, 8 hours per shift - Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s relocation policy - The successful applicant will be expected to live in the Grande Prairie area - Not eligible for company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out and no camp available - Additional work hours may be occasionally needed to meet required urgent timelines - Competitive salary, stock options, stock savings plan and benefits - This is a safety sensitive position Skills & Qualifications: - Professional Engineer in good standing, or eligibility for registration with APEGA - Engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering - 5 years minimum in an industrial setting where you gained experience with the design, construction and operation of conventional oil & gas facilities - Experience in facilities process safety review through MOC, PHA, HAZOP, “What if” and other applicable techniques - A proven team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships while demonstrating a high level of cooperation and mutual respect - Additional positive attributes for the position: - Gas and/or oil processing plus facility design related experience where you gained knowledge of fabrication and regulatory codes - Field-based operational or engineering support experience including facility optimization, troubleshooting plus field construction experience while managing construction site supervisors and construction personnel - Solid organizational skills remaining highly analytic while being able to manage several projects concurrently with proficiency in spreadsheets and engineering software applications Why Canadian Natural?
