      Preferred Qualifications:

      Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or related field
      Experience in utilities construction
      Experience in the management and design or institutional or commercial building projects, especially in an academic higher education environment
      Experience with large, complex and multi-phased projects
      Experience with sustainable design and construction standards, techniques, and methods

      Job Description:

      Summary

      The Facilities Planning Management team at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Facilities Project Manager III to provide project management services for moderate to large size capital projects for renovation or new construction of campus facilities.

      In this role you will:

      • lead the project team and coordinate all project activities for assigned capital projects with a primary responsibility for the management and coordination of design phase activities administering professional services agreements between owner and consultants.
      • serve as the primary contact for the university client and design professionals (architects, engineers, cost consultants, and other specialized consultants).
      • coordinate and monitor the work of design professionals to assure compliance with the building program (requirements for the project), user requirements, university requirements, and standards for high quality architectural and engineering design.
      • develop project budget and manages project funds throughout the life of the project assure that all required project approvals are obtained as appropriate collaborate with the ISU construction manager on assigned projects.

      The successful candidate will possess good communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, and be detail oriented. A candidate will have the ability to lead multi-faceted project teams with conflicting interests, needs, or requirements and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

      Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

The term "facilities" refers to all the buildings, grounds, walks, drives, parking lots, and utility systems belonging to ISU, which means our staff covers nearly every facet of campus.

      Level Guidelines
      • Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals
      • Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
      • Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
      • Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
      • Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
      • May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)
      • May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist
      • Provides guidance to students
