- Oversee citywide surveillance camera system
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee installation of security camera systems
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to cameras
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance and/or coordinate inspections and maintenance with contractor to ensure all cameras are functioning correctly
- Coordinate repairs and replacements with camera contractors and facility managers
- Provide technical support and training to contract security and relevant employees
- Manage and organize footage archives in accordance with retention policies
- Maintain accurate records of camera locations, configurations and maintenance history
- Generate reports on system performance, investigations and surveillance activities
- Recommend upgrades or enhancements to camera systems based on industry trends and technological advancements
- Review camera footage to investigate incidents or suspicious activities
- Stay informed about emerging threats and security technologies to enhance surveillance capabilities
- Oversee access control system
- Coordinate access control system management with facility managers and contractors
- Manage user access permissions and credentials for employees and contractors
- Oversee process to issue and deactivate ID badges per policy and status changes
- Provide training and support to users on access control procedures and protocols
- Troubleshoot technical issues with access control system, including hardware and software components
- Coordinate with contractors and facility managers to resolve system malfunctions and failures promptly
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and user access records
- Implement best practices for access control systems, including regular system updates
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures
- Oversee citywide non-public safety radio program
- Select, order, and distribute radio hardware
- Coordinate user management and programming
- Maintain accurate records of radio inventory, user assignment, and maintenance/replacement
- Coordinate with contractors and users for maintenance, repair and replacement
- Program and troubleshoot radio systems, computer and software applications
- Provide support for the Facilities Security program
- Provide training, participate on security task forces and serve as a backup to the Facilities Security Coordinator
- Communicate with employees, customers and contractors to support security best practices
- Provide 24/7 technical support as needed to the facilities security program while off-duty
- Remain current on emerging technologies related to associated applications, systems and hardware
- Work on security-related projects as needed
- Maintain existing building notification system and oversee implementation of new building notification systems
- Serve as liaison with Information Technology for the research, procurement, and use of technical hardware and software equipment
- Work cooperatively with the Police Department Technology Services Section to maintain, service, enhance and troubleshoot the City owned radio network, system and hardware to ensure reliability and performance for all users
- Coordinate with the Police Department Technical Services Coordinator on operational protocols, in-service training and identification of radio coverage problem areas in the City
- Provide data to consultants and other City staff
- Facilitate required departmental participation in State or Federal certification programs
- Maintain eligibility to access protected information
- Maintain a safe driving record
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Associate degree in security management, information technology, business, or related field
- Radio communications technician certificate or relevant experience
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP network protocol, as well as BOOTP, DNS and DHCP
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience with security-related technology such as camera systems, access control systems and/or building notification systems
- Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and PCI certifications upon hire
- Constant sitting to perform daily tasks; occasional walking through a multilevel facility to retrieve information; frequent standing, sometimes for extended periods
- Frequent squatting, reaching above shoulder, and twisting to file documents and lift supplies and material; occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, balancing, and reaching below shoulder to store documents, material, and supplies
- Constant light grasp, fine manipulation, and handling to perform daily duties; occasional firm grasp to safely use equipment
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling and lifting of up to ten (10) pounds to move material and supplies; occasional pushing and/or pulling and lifting of up to twenty-five (25) pounds with dollies and carts
- Background checks will include employment references and criminal history, credit check, driving record, and education verification
- Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check
- Drug screen
- Must be legally entitled to work in the United States

POSITION PURPOSE
The Facilities Security Technician is responsible for coordinating the selection, installation, maintenance and support for security-related technology, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, radios, and building notification systems. This position uses security best practices to ensure the safety and protection of customers, employees and assets and provides support for the citywide facilities security program. While off-duty, this position may need to be available by phone to respond to critical needs.

The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is constantly performed indoors. This is primarily sedentary office work. Must demonstrate the ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including the ability to retrieve information from various locations in the office when needed. Exposure to periods of high activity and high stress under demanding conditions. The position requires a great deal of communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies.
