      Job Description

      SompoRe has a unique opportunity for a Facultative Underwriting Associate on our Reinsurance Facultative team.

      Our casualty facultative team provides multi-layered solutions with structuring reinsurance opportunities with our SompoReConnect platform, individual risk certificates and alternative market quoting. The position reports to AVP, Casualty Facultative Manager and is part of a facultative team of both casualty and professional liability professionals.

      What you’ll be doing:

      • Learn and participate in the underwriting of profitable casualty facultative specialty reinsurance business in accordance with Sompo’s underwriting philosophy and guidelines.
      • Develop and demonstrate underwriting proficiency.
      • Assist with providing account management assistance for new business and existing accounts.
      • Establish, develop and maintain productive and effective relationships with intermediaries and ceding companies as well as provide assistance for the ongoing performance management of accounts.
      • May participate in ceding company file reviews for current and prospective clients.
      • Regular travel to Customers and Brokers required – 25% on average

      What you’ll bring:

      • Bachelor Degree with interest in industry designations along with some experience with P&C underwriting ideal.
      • Strong client experience required handling negotiations, addressing complex issues and finding solutions along with excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to follow up and through on commitments.
      • Strongly proficient software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, e.g. Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
      • Ability to analyze internal and client data and present results and recommendations
      • Operates efficiently and independently as well as a strong team player with a strong work ethic.
      • Continuing-improvement orientation

      Salary Range: $65,000 – $110,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
