      University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine / UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh

      The Division of Pulmonary Medicine at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP) seeks a PhD scientist for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or early Associate Professor in the tenure stream at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Joint appointment may be sought in the Departments of Human Genetics, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, or Cell Biology for qualified candidates.

      The applicant should have a PhD in molecular genomics or molecular biology and at least two years of postdoctoral experience. Additional interest and expertise in computational and/or epithelial biology are a plus. The candidate should have demonstrated successful academic productivity and strong potential for productivity, funding, and collaborative research. Applicants should be eligible for NIH or other federal funding, and proven ability to obtain extramural grants is highly desirable. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of their own line of research, including study and experiment design, data generation, analysis, scientific communication, and further funding applications. In addition to their own independent projects, the applicant will work collaboratively with other investigators within the Division and the Pediatric Asthma Center, implementing novel methods for functional characterization of variants and pathways identified from genome-wide epigenetic and transcriptomic studies in respiratory diseases. Salary and startup package will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

      The Division of Pulmonary Medicine currently has 14 full-time faculty members, including nine pulmonary and sleep medicine physicians and five PhD scientists. The Division has an outstanding career development program for its research faculty, a strong ACGME-accredited training program in pediatric pulmonology with 6 fellows, a T32 training grant from the NHLBI, and joint conferences and research activities.
