Overview
The Asian studies intern will conduct research in support of American Enterprise Institute (AEI) Nonresident Senior Fellow Oriana Skylar Mastro, Jeane Kirkpatrick Visiting Fellow Sheena Chestnut Greitens, and Nonresident Fellow Michael Mazza. The Asian Studies portfolio focuses primarily on US defense policy and security issues in the Indo-Pacific. Key responsibilities may include monitoring security developments in the region, compiling sources in English and Chinese, collecting and organizing data for long-term projects, and drafting memos and annotated bibliographies.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Full working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is required. Additional language skills are beneficial but not required. Please include your availability in your cover letter.
AEI's Fall 2023 internship program will have two start dates: September 12 and September 19, 2023. While the AEI Internship Program and all related programming will take place in-person in Washington, DC this fall, virtual interns may be accepted on a case by case basis. Please include your in-person/virtual preference in your cover letter.
