Overview
The Critical Threats Project (CTP), led by AEI Senior Fellow Frederick W. Kagan, tracks and analyzes current and emerging threats to American national security. The intern will complete operations projects and tasks under CTP’s assistant director, gaining skills transferrable to many professions.
The intern will curate content for CTP’s website and social media platforms. Social media work will include researching and implementing new creative strategies to increase social media engagement, monitoring and reporting on the success of social media initiatives, and identifying trends to maximize impact. The intern will also provide operational support for the project, which may include creating graphics and other promotional materials, tracking metrics to determine impact, and providing additional support to the assistant director as required. The intern will also develop the team’s knowledge management by creating and refining procedures documents. The intern may work on additional special projects.
The intern will gain exposure to a range of foreign policy issues while developing communication, public speaking, writing, and advanced computer skills. Interested candidates should demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, logic skills, and attention to detail. Successful candidates will have an eye toward continuous improvement and enjoy coordinating many moving parts.
Please include your weekly availability for the position in your cover letter. Hours must fall within normal business hours Monday through Friday; the most successful applicants will have at least 15 hours of availability a week. Fall CTP internships begin on September 7, 2023.
While the AEI Internship Program and all related programming will take place in-person in Washington, DC this fall, virtual interns may be accepted on a case by case basis. Please include your in-person/virtual preference in your cover letter.
About AEI Internships AEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation’s leading think tanks. Competitive candidates will generally possess a 3.4 GPA or higher from a top-ranking college or university. The AEI Internship Program runs 12 weeks.
