      Position Details

      WESTLAND FAMILY CENTER PROGRAM COORDINATOR

      Do you have experience providing direct services to persons experiencing homelessness? Expectations of our Program Coordinator are to maintain current knowledge of homeless services and coordinate intakes within contract and licensing requirements, funding source guidelines, and accreditation standards; coordinate and supervise daily activities of Family Support Specialist; provide ongoing staff supervision, scheduling, guidance and training in accordance with organization, program and contract policies, procedures and guidelines for program sites; assist Director with recruiting, hiring, and terminating Family Support Specialist; conduct performance evaluation, and implement corrective action in accordance with Samaritas Personnel Policies and procedures; provide ongoing communication with Director regarding such activity.

      SALARY IS $50,000 with comprehensive benefits effective the first of the month following 30 days of employent.

      Provides coordination and supervision of residential services in assigned center, under the direction of the Director.

      Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintain current knowledge of homeless services and coordinate intakes within contract and licensing requirements, funding source guidelines, and accreditation standards.
    • Coordinate and supervise daily activities of Family Support Specialist; provide ongoing staff supervision, scheduling, guidance and training in accordance with organization, program and contract policies, procedures and guidelines for program sites.
    • Assist Director with recruiting, hiring, and terminating Family Support Specialist; conduct performance evaluation, and implement corrective action in accordance with Samaritas Personnel Policies and procedures; provide ongoing communication with Director regarding such activity.
    • Provide comprehensive, strength-based case management services to all assigned residents including intake assessment, goal-setting, progress monitoring, financial literacy, resources and referrals and advocacy.
    • Assist Director in the development and implementation of program outcomes and evaluation related to service delivery.
    • Assist Director with coordinating and collaborating with donors and volunteers, scheduling and planning activities for volunteers and residents.
    • Assist in developing, maintaining, and communicating written guidelines and procedures governing program operations and activities.

      Job Qualifications

      Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

      • Bachelor degree in human services related field preferred

      Experience

      • Minimum one year experience providing direct services to persons experiencing homelessness preferred.
      • Prior supervisory and residential experience is preferred.

      Knowledge Skills and Abilities

      • Knowledge of program development, volunteer management and staff supervision.
      • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to homeless services.
      • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and ability to work effectively with clients, family members, staff, superiors and agencies.
      • Ability to solve a wide range of practical problems which involve multiple variables.
      • Ability to apply practical mathematical applications such as of percentages, ratio and proportion, and algebra.
      • Ability to prepare business letters, summaries, and reports, using prescribed format and confirming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.
      • Ability to effectively utilize various computer programs including spreadsheet application. Working knowledge of Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) data entry preferred.

      Additional Work Requirements

      • Valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record. Reliable personal automobile with valid proof of automobile insurance.
      • Availability for on-call emergencies outside of normal work time.
