- Call all Migrant families once per month to determine need for services and call families to inform them of events.
- Update Social Media and pictures and news articles to Eastmont Social.
- Provide direct support to McKinney-Vento and unaccompanied youth by arranging and attending shopping trips.
- Assist families in navigating the school system, including help with enrollment, transportation, and understanding school policies.
- Assist families in navigating Qmlative, Parent Square, and Finalforms
- Assist families in completing Nutrition Eligibility Consent to Share forms.
- Serve as a communication bridge between families, school staff, and district personnel.
- Work with Secondary school counselors and administrators to identify and address barriers to learning.
- Support families in understanding academic expectations, student progress, and opportunities such as parent-teacher conferences, District Sponsored Migrant/ML/Family events, and college/career planning.
- Conduct home visits to maintain strong, consistent family engagement and support.
- Collaborate with local agencies to provide families with referrals for health, dental, and housing resources.
- Assist students and families with access to supplies, clothing, and other basic needs.
- Promote early learning opportunities and help families access early childhood programs.
- Support language access for families by offering interpretation and translation for meetings, documents, and other communications.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with state and federal reporting requirements.
- Participate in professional development, community outreach events, and district training activities related to multilingual education, migrant and family engagement. This position requires attendance at certain events that may occur outside of standard work hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support students and families.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in education, social services, or related fields preferred
- Bilingual and biliterate in English and a language commonly spoken by the district’s multilingual population
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and engage effectively with families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience working with multilingual, migrant, or underserved families in an educational or community-based setting
- Knowledge of school systems and programs, including Title I, Title III, Migrant Education Program (MEP), and McKinney-Vento supports
- Familiarity with local community resources and services related to health, housing, education, and family support
- Culturally responsive mindset with a deep understanding of the needs of Hispanic families and those experiencing poverty
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other relevant technology tools
- Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability
- One FSS experienced at the elementary level and one at secondary level
- Proof of High School diploma, or equivalent;
- Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
- Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
- Completion of federal I-9 form.
- Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors; inclement weather at times
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

The Family Support Specialist (FSS) serves as a vital connection between the school district and Migrant & Multilingual families. This position plays a key role in removing barriers to student success by ensuring that all children and families are able to fully participate in a positive educational experience. The liaison supports family engagement, increases access to essential resources, and gives families one point of contact for resources. By fostering communication and trust, the liaison helps students and families feel informed, supported, and empowered within the educational system.
