      Job Summary:

      The chaplain is responsible for providing biblically based discipleship and teaching to long-term program clients within the framework of MnTC’s spiritual growth vision and mission, inviting and leading those struggling with addition to discover their living testimony of Jesus Chris’s living hope.

      Essential Job Responsibilities:

      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential functions include the following:

      • Agree and live by MnTC’s ministry philosophy and agree to intentionally foster unity by acknowledging and abiding by MnTC’s Faith Essentials as a Foundation for Unity
      • Purposefully proclaim the living hope of Jesus to every client.
      • Intentionally invite clients to enter into and grow in relationship with Jesus.
      • Partner, in an integrated fashion, with client care managers, recovery coaches, clinical professionals and others involved in client care to encourage clients in fulfilling spiritual goals and holding clients accountable to overall program engagement and individualized spiritual growth plans.
      • Teach, model and assist clients in applying fundamental, biblical discipleship tools as taught in GSNL, level classes and are reflected in MnTC’s Culture of Honor.
      • Teach, model and encourage clients in maintaining a posture of reverence for God and/or the environment in which they are engaged.
      • Teach, model and encourage strategies to assist clients in developing a regular devotional life that includes scripture reading, prayer and worship.
      • Teach, model and encourage clients in living out the Godly characteristics of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
      • Direct and assist clients in completing the 4th and 5th step of the 12 Steps of AA.
      • Teach model and encourage clients in the biblical principle of serving.
      • In partnership with recovery coaches, engage with and constructively coach and direct clients in their relationship with Jesus through level classes, 1:1 sessions, during chapel and other large group environments.
      • Attentive to the distinction between discipling and counseling, to ensure clinical services are integrated with client care, in partnership with mental health therapists, alcohol and drug counselors, etc.
        • Chaplains are primarily focused on discipleship, helping clients develop the attitudes and actions of Jesus, including forgiveness and transformation.
      • Model a Christ-like life and allow clients to observe that life by establishing appropriate rhythms that include office time, large group time and floor time.
      • Utilize the assessment and 1:1 meeting tools to assist clients in noting their personal development and in assisting chaplains in individual planning for spiritual growth.
      • Assist clients toward the desired outcomes as defined by client outcomes. These outcomes will be measured using the Spiritual Assessment Tool.
      • Clearly document client progress in relationship to the above bullet points using designated methods.
      • Perform sacramental functions as needed.

      Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

      • Licensed Christian minister required.
      • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
      • At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
      • Must be comfortable working with people with life-controlling challenges, including mental health and addiction.
      • Ability to teach group lectures on applicable treatment topics.
      • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet weekly minimum caseload requirement.
      • Excellent individual discipling and documentation skills.
      • Ability to direct counseling sessions and redirect clients to focus on the appropriate issues.
      • Firm personal conviction that the Christian bible is the authoritative and inspired Word of God.
      • The ability to live and work by MnTC’s culture of honor & core values – practicing compassion, honor, respect, integrity, servanthood, and trust.

      Physical Requirements:

      The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

      • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
      • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.

      Target Compensation (Negotiable based on Qualifications):

      $43,000-$49,000/year
