      American Fence Company is looking for a Fence Wire Weaver - Apprentice to learn the full operation and maintenance of machines that weave chain link fence fabric. We have a competitive starting pay at $22.00 to $26.00 per hour with a full benefits package.

      Job Duties Include:

      • Learn to set up and operate textile machines that perform manufacturing operations of weaving wire into chain link fencing fabric.
      • Help with cleaning, oiling, and lubricating machines, using air hoses, cleaning solutions, rags, oil cans, or grease guns.
      • Be trained on how to use study guides, weaving patterns, samples, charts, or specification sheets, or confer with supervisor to determine setup requirements.
      • Start to prepare raw materials for processing.
      • Receive training on threading wire through guides and rollers of machines for weaving or other processing.
      • Learn how to start machines, monitor operations, and make adjustments as needed.
      • Begin to operate machines for test runs to verify adjustments and to obtain product samples.
      • Get trained on how to adjust machine tensions, and speeds to produce specified products.
      • Receive knowledge on how to inspect products to ensure that specifications are met and to determine if machines need adjustment.
      • Learn to observe woven chain link fabric to detect weaving defects.
      • Gain knowledge in how to stop machines when specified amounts of product have been produced.
      • Start to remove products, machine attachments, or waste material from machines.
      • May have to help with marking or tagging identification on parts.
      • Assist with lifting raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually, or with a forklift.
      • Learn how to inspect machinery to determine whether repairs are needed.
      • Work with Wire Weaver to examine machinery to determine causes of weaving stoppage, such as wire feed issues, blade alignment, or mechanical defects.
      • Help to record information about work completed and machine settings.
      • Notify wire weaver, supervisors or repair staff of mechanical malfunctions.

      Education:

      • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred

      Experience:

      • 2 plus years of experience in manufacturing

      Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Valid driver's license issued in the employing state and good driving record.
