The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
The Fair Housing Investigator investigates, researches, and evaluates allegations of violations of the Fair Housing Ordinance to ensure citizens have equal and equitable access to housing.1 Investigates, researches, and evaluates complaints of fair housing violations; receives grievances through walk in, phone calls, and other mediums; engages and communicates with citizens effectively to determine issues and prioritize concerns.
2 Researches, gathers, and compiles detailed facts pertaining to grievances and violations; interviews all parties and witnesses involved, compiles necessary documents, and determines if allegations are viable.
3 Identifies, determines, and makes cause or no-cause recommendations to the administrator for consideration in prosecution of cases for alleging housing discrimination and violations; presents all evidentiary data to support claims and recommendations.
4 Communicates, interacts, and engages with housing owners, attorneys, city attorneys, federal agencies, and private organizations to investigate cases and explain liabilities.
5 Prepares, drafts, and edits reports and other paperwork, documents investigations, and maintains files to develop comprehensive documentation of cases; establishes relationships with homeowners to effectively process and review cases to determine violations.
6 Explains, interprets, and applies all Fair Housing Ordinance standards to aggrieved persons or citizen making complaints; conducts and participates in any and all outreach or educational events to teach or train citizens and staff on Fair Housing violations and general ordinance standards.
7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
EducationBachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, or a related field. (Required)
AND
ExperienceTwo (2) years of experience performing compliance, public services, or human services. (Required)
Licenses and CertificationsTexas Driver's License (Required)
Language-Skills (Preferred)-English and Spanish or English and Other Culturally Diverse Dialects
Bilingual in English and Other Culturally Diverse Languages with different dialects (with professional proficiency) desired. (Preferred)Preferred Languages (for Language Skills listed below):
