      About this opportunity

      Support the growth of the Credit Trading business in line with the Capital Markets strategy.

      The Credit Trading team is part of Capital Markets within Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM). Our Credit Trading business in based in London and New York and works closely with the Credit Sales teams in these markets plus Frankfurt. Credit Trading is looking to add a Financial Sector Credit Strategist to its London Trading Desk. The Desk has a mandate to provide Corporate and Institutional banking clients access to a range of Corporate Credit products across a broad maturity spectrum.

      As the Financials Sector Credit Strategist, you’ll assist Lloyds Bank Credit Markets with the provision of micro credit analysis and credit intelligence. You’ll operate within the market facing Credit Trading & Sales team, which facilitates Corporate and Institutional Banking client access to a range of multi-currency credit products, across a broad maturity spectrum.

      • Provide Credit Intelligence to traders / DCM and contribute towards early morning trading floor calls and, when relevant, to an internal audience with direct interest in Financials sector credit.
      • Provision of Investment Recommendations, inventory ideas and optimum hedging/trading strategies, all within a MAR and MIFID II compliant environment for a desk strategist role.
      • Occasional European client roadshows to discuss credit market dynamics and gather client feedback.
      • Where appropriate, drive and coordinate prioritisation of deliverables in support of agreed business objectives and project plans.
      • Review and analyse key external trends and influences to ensure that a wide range of information is used to support the development of the business.

      What you’ll need

      • Proven track record of in-depth Financials sector credit analysis in a Credit Research, Trading Desk Strategist or a similar role.
      • Offer a consistent, intelligent viewpoint on credit risk assessment and relative value analysis for secondary and primary Financials sector corporate bonds.
      • Strong analytical skills, including financial modelling experience, capital resolution regimes, financial and non financial trends, M&A situations, and companies operating under stress. Demonstrable understanding of market dynamics and credit rating methodologies.
      • The ability to quickly see the risks/rewards inherent within a deal structure or market environment and assess relative/absolute value opportunities across the capital structure.
      • Knowledge of key relevant legal, regulatory and statutory requirements, documentation interpretation and ability to provide advice to the desk on these aspects.
      • Experience in supporting client franchise including our institutional client segments. Comprehensive knowledge and wide practical experience of relevant Fixed Income products and services.
      • Awareness and proactive approach to control and conduct agenda.
      • Understanding of the wider financial services industry, regulatory changes and pertinent economic and political factors which may impact on the Group’s business and overall aims.
      • Ability to effectively manage stakeholders, build and maintain networks.

      This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks

      This role has been identified as a Client-dealing function under SYSC 27.8.18R as defined in the FCA Handbook

      If you manage certified colleagues this role will be identified as Manager of certification employees under SYSC 27.8.13R as defined in the FCA Handbook(1) The function of managing or supervising a certification employee, directly or indirectly, is an FCA-specified significant-harm function.(2) A function in (1) is not an FCA certification function for that firm if it is performed by an SMF manager of that firm.
