What´s the role? As the Fiber Network Technician, you will be responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of transmission equipment of Head Ends, OTN’s, and HUB’s. Also, accountable of fiber optic network configurations, repairs and troubleshooting. Support OTNS mini Head ends and all transmission equipment related. Responsible for fiber outages repair 24/7, anytime that the fiber network fails, this includes travel across all the system. How can you add value? Installation of Equipment/Electronics sensitive, specialized and outstanding to business advance services (GPON, ADTRAN, and ONT). Interact with Business Technical Support, Net Admin and Voice Admin for provisioning for advance services. Splices, maintains, and updates head-end fiber. Fiber deployment of FTTH and mobile products (FDP, FDH, FAT, Drops,CRAN,cell sites) Document fiber using GIS applications. Perform activations of dedicated private line circuits for business customers with its differences solutions: pure point-to-point using media converters, virtual fiber circuits using GPON with optic splitters, Fiber on Demand solution using available fiber in the node. Fiber deployment of advance transport solution with strong SLAs requirements that include fiber rings and on-premises links to guarantee 0 downtime. Face to face interaction with IT Directors and Facilities managers. Installation and commissioning of optical transmission and termination equipment. Installation of regular plant elements (nodes and splicing enclosures). Solve problems for fiber outages using specific equipment such as: Fuse Splice machine, OTDR, RF Meter, Voltmeter and Power Meters. Interact with NOC and Head-end to turn on/restore plant elements. Assist on the installation and configuration of commercial accounts that includes fiber optic cable. Coordinate and updates fiber restoration plan. Assist on fiber splicing and enclosures. Able to identify Transmission equipment as Lasers, Receivers EDFA, Couplers, Patch cords, trays. Responsible for transmission equipment installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hotel video services (mini head ends). Climb ladders, towers and other structures; lifts or carries loads up to 50 lbs. using appropriate moving and lifting equipment. Perform temporizations of fibers cables. Maintain constant communication for the coordination of prevention, maintenance and repair efforts with Technical Operations Managers and Technical Operations Supervisors, and in all aspects for system balance and maintenance. Assist in fiber outages as needed. Responsible uses of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided by the company. Maintain and control all vehicle inventories for necessary equipment repairs and replacement of it daily. Demonstrate and ensure compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, all Liberty Latin America's policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures. Other functions may be assigned. What do you need? Education and/ or Experience: BBA in Computer Programming and/in Electronics. Seven + years related of technical experience in the CATV industry. Previous experience as Fiber Techn.ician and fiber certification Other Qualifications: Good communication and positive interpersonal skills. Available to assist in system outages after natural disasters such as hurricanes on 24/7 schedules, if needed. Strive to perform efficiently outages within a given timeframe. Outstanding skills with the enclosures, including analysis of associated activities as; breakouts, circuit trays combinations, failure detection, and problem solving. Outstanding skills managing test equipment, e.g. OTDR, Power meters, fiber identifiers, fusion machines. Basic skills of network construction, as coax splicing, drop repairs, fiber cable reserve management. Fully Bilingual (Spanish and English) Knowledge of National Electrical Codes, FCC regulations and telecommunications transportation Domain in electrical and electronics. Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. Computer-literate, knowledge in Microsoft Office. Multifaceted, customer Focus and service oriented. Knowledge on Telecommunications, especially on cable, telephone and Internet. Heavy trucks driver’s license CAT 6.
