      What you’ll do

      KiwiRail has an opportunity for a Field Asset Engineer to join our team in Dunedin. You will be responsible for asset management of track and civil assets in the field, with a specific focus on rail infrastructure.

      Within your role you will look to:

      • Create work-bank plans to support delivery of KPI's in Asset Management and Business Plans
      • Management of the maintenance and renewals service requests and work orders and ensure correct priorities are assigned and measures actioned.
      • Oversee and assist with the inspection work-bank.
      • Provide expert technical advice to achieve best practice and adherence to code requirements.
      • Interface with third parties including customers, and contractors.

      Other duties are carrying out engineering inspections and site audits to ensure the asset condition meets code requirements and the Asset management system (Maximo) contains correct, complete, and up to date information.

      What you’ll need

      This position will give you a great platform to demonstrate your strong problem-solving ability, whilst maintaining a strong commitment to drive activity towards achieving performance to plan and productivity targets with your other skills such as:

      • A tertiary qualification in Engineering (preferably Civil)
      • Demonstrable experience working in the Rail Industry, Infrastructure or Service Organisation - Job planning, estimating and project management including cost control and managing job timelines.
      • Experience with asset management systems is a pre-requisite, along with knowledge of best practice asset management principles.
      • You will also possess excellent communication skills and be computer literate - knowledge of RAM, Maximo, and advanced knowledge of Excel is a definite advantage.
