Gibela Rail Transport Consortium invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Field Engineer position to be based in Wolmerton Depot, Pretoria North. The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Warranty Manager.

Job Purpose:

• Technical support for Reliability Growth through investigations and data analysis.
• Identify new faults and system failures, root cause analysis, field investigation and reporting.
• Technical support for Troubleshooting in order to ensure maximum train availability.

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Technical knowledge with 5 to 8 years' experience preferably in the railway industry, in Engineering, Technical or Warranty positions, ideally in an international organization.
• Experience in product Reliability.
• Experience in train systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
• IT literate, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of Health & Safety standards.

Main Responsibilities:

• Analysing and finding the root cause of repetitive failures on Trains.
• Investigate train sub-systems repetitive failures.
• Identifying failures affecting the fleet from corrective issues and escalate them through company defined processes.
• Analysing the history and the configuration of each Train through the failure data base.
• Conducting investigations and measurements on Trains.
• Proposing design improvements to solve issues.
• Contributing to Reliability Growth and Return of Experience .
• Guarantee information flow within the depot, the Reliability team and Project team.
• Supporting and advise corrective maintenance team on finding root cause of train subsystem repetitive failures
• Formalizing the investigation guideline to find failure root causes on Trains.
• Supporting Troubleshooter team and Field Modification team.
• Adhering to EHS rules and any work related processes requirement.
• Monitoring train systems performance after modification implementation.
• Supporting and Technically advising warranty support functions.
