      Job Description:

      The Community Studies Department is looking for Developmental Service Workers to contribute their expertise and passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to supervise first and second year DSW students who are on placement in the field.

      Under the direction of the Chair, the Field Liaison works with the Field Placement Officer and faculty to support students completing field placement. The liaison is the primary contact for the student and their Placement Supervisor while the student is completing placement hours.

      Responsibilities include:

      • completing a minimum of two site visits during placement to observe the student interacting with the clients - during day and evening hours depending on location of placement and student schedule.

      • providing support and guidance related to demonstration of practical skills in placement.

      • implementing the established field curriculum and assessing student assignments as part of a co-requisite course.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Minimum of a Developmental Services Worker diploma, or closely related diploma/degree;

      • Minimum of three to five years practical experience in the field of developmental services;

      • Highly effective communication and organizational skills;

      • Strong group facilitation skills;

      • Strong conflict management, problem solving and advocacy skills with a focus on learner success;

      • Strong computer skills; knowledge of educational technologies an asset;

      • Supervisory experience an asset.

      Please note:

      Contracts are issued term to term and are dependent on operational need.

      Contract is remunerated at $125 per student plus mileage.
