      POSITION SUMMARY:


      Provide company-wide safety support and advice.

      This role involves regular travel within the state of California. Residence in California is required.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

      60% - Provide on site consultation, inspection and oversight to store management regarding safety related questions and issues, including action to be taken following OSHA citations; includes travel to all stores in the assigned area at least annually and attendance at area meetings to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements. Prepare incident reports and oversee all OSHA citations, meetings and hearings in the region.

      10% - Review all accident and incident reports in the assigned area. Follow up with management as necessary for additional information and to determine the actual cause.

      10% - Oversee and report to management on programs for regulatory compliance including DEQ, EPA, OSHA, MSHA, and Fire Marshal reporting (CA Integrated Waste Management - Southern Region), and other state, city and county reporting as required. Conduct accident investigations as assigned and assist stores (when possible) during onsite regulatory inspections.

      10% - Assist the Safety Supervisor with all safety related training in the assigned area, including Forklift, MSHA, CPR, First Aid and other injury prevention training, and provide assistance as needed to ensure compliance.

      10% - Additional responsibilities as assigned.

      EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

      Educational/Experience Requirements: Bachelor Degree or equivalent preferred or 5 years related experience.

      Required Technical Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of company policies, practices, and procedures; basic computer skills, and knowledge of OSHA, DEQ, EPA, MSHA, and Fire Marshal standards and regulations.

      General Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with compliance officers, mediators, ombudsmen, and hearings officials; Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff. Ability to work independently without close supervision.

      Physical Requirements: Ability to operate office equipment including computer, keyboard and telephone. Ability to move from one work site to another. Travel required.

      Work Environment: General office environment with frequent travel and exposure to stores.

      PAY AND BENEFITS:

      $63,400 - $80,800 + 10% annual bonus
