Communication Maintenance servicing public safety and public service critical communication systems for York County, VA. These systems include: Astro 25 Systems, Conventional Radio, 911, Computer Aided Dispatch Systems & Mobile Data Terminals, Recording Systems, Subscribers, Parts/Accessories, Fleet Mapping, Network Equipment, MOSCAD and BDA’s.

Job Description

• The Radio Installation Technician will partner with York County Employees and MSI employees to meet the city's requirements.
• Install, remove, program, and troubleshoot Motorola radio equipment, mobile computer equipment, mounts, cameras, and automatic vehicle location (AVL) equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting of equipment as required.
• Perform radio cloning (existing deployed code-plugs) and radio firmware updates of mobile and portable radios while utilizing radio management or applicable CPS.
• Update cases and projects to increase customer satisfaction, reduce downtime, and reduce costs.
• Deliver a strong working knowledge of Motorola radios and their applications by customers.
• Assist with site cabling, such as Cat5, Cat6, and etc.
• Work will be performed in accordance with industry standards, city requirements and where applicable, Motorola R56 standards.
• Strong MS Office/Google Docs skills
• Experienced with Astro 25 systems, subscribers, parts/accessories, programming.
• Confidence to work alone with minimal supervision and/or support only available by phone.
• Deliver knowledge of whole car packages, including lights, sirens, and consoles.
• Provide excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communications skills, both orally and written.

Location/Travel:

• The Radio Installation Technician must reside near York County, VA or must live a commutable distance to York County, VA
• The Radio Installation Technician may be required to attend OEM provided training.
• Training will occasionally require some travel
• The Radio Installation Technician may have periods of 24x7 on call with availability for phone support when other Radio Installation Technician’s are on call.

Candidate Requirements:

• Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record

• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s) and customer background check.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Basic Requirements

• 5+ years experience in one of the following: Electronics Technician, Communications Technician, Radio Installation Technician, System Technologist, System Manager, Field Service or Military experience with one or more of the following: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, IT, Networking, or Networking equipment.

• Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
