- Assume a variety of physical positions, including but not limited to sitting, standing, etc., at a rapid pace.
- Maintain poses for an extended period to facilitate student learning in drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art classes.
- Wear a variety of clothing styles, pose nude, or in minimal attire as required by the specific class.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interact professionally with faculty, students, university employees, and the community.
- Ensure on-time arrival to modeling assignments, recognizing the essential nature of punctuality in maintaining the flow of the class.
- Work under the supervision of the class instructor or grad assistant during class hours.
- Follow the direction of the instructor to assist in teaching students about human proportions, body alignments, anatomy and structure, movement, foreshortening, and body/clothing relationships.
- Prior figure modeling experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of appropriate poses for drawing, painting, and sculpture classes.
- Understanding of basic design principles to contribute to the artistic learning environment.
- Ability to create well-designed and visually interesting poses that enhance the educational objectives of the classes.
Our client is Rochester Institute of Technology. This position will assist the School of Arts, National Technical Institute of the Deaf. This is a 6 month contract role with opportunity to become hired full time or extend the contract, with pay starting at $18.50/hour. Schedules vary and are flexible based on your availability between 8am-8pm, Monday-Friday.
Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assist in teaching students about human proportions, body alignments, anatomy and structure, movement, foreshortening, and body/clothing relationships. The work is performed under supervision of the class instructor or grad assistant during class hours. A figure model must be able to follow the direction of the instructor. This hourly position is coordinated through the School of Art within the College of Art and Design at RIT.
