      Overview

      The Business Services Directorate (BSD) delivers essential financial, contractual, and project management capabilities to Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) that are required as part of our management and operations contract to operate PNNL on behalf of the Department of Energy (DOE).

      Our BSD purpose in delivering these capabilities is to provide efficient, effective, and compliant business services in order to increase the scientific impact of PNNL.


      Responsibilities

      The Finance & Accounting Professional 1 - Property Accounting:

      • Performs professional financial/accounting activities including the maintenance, control, analysis and development of complex financial/accounting records, reports and systems.
      • Focus on accounting for inventory, and capital assets.
      • Provides oversight of the Property Determination process and capital/expense cost treatment.Provides business advice and services to management and staff to ensure compliance with applicable federal laws, regulations, policies and good business practices.
      • Includes systems and process development to improve business practices.
      • Responsible for adherence to and communication of business policies and procedures, including training and interpretation for the various organizations supported.

      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • BS/BA or higher

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, MIS or a related business field.
      • Working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems, general accounting practices, and strong analytical, process development and communication skills are required.
      • A high degree of knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel.
      • Assignments may be wide in scope requiring a broad background of experience or independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.
      • Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
      • Skilled in the use of basic financial and accounting systems and software.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Previous lease accounting experience or property accounting experience.

      HSPD-12 PIV Credential Requirement

      In accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 473.1A, new employees are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.


      Mandatory Requirements

      Please be aware that the Department of Energy (DOE) prohibits DOE employees and contractors from having any affiliation with the foreign government of a country DOE has identified as a “country of risk” without explicit approval by DOE and Battelle. If you are offered a position at PNNL and currently have any affiliation with the government of one of these countries, you will be required to disclose this information and recuse yourself of that affiliation or receive approval from DOE and Battelle prior to your first day of employment.

Starting pay is calculated from the minimum of the pay range and actual placement in the range is determined based on an individual’s relevant job-related skills, qualifications, and experience.       USD $27.21/Hr.
      Maximum Salary

      USD $39.95/Hr.
