As a Finance Apprentice, you take on the role of a Financial Analyst in one of Amazon’s many business areas, from AWS to Fresh, from Retail to Prime Video. Not only that, you rotate across 3 different roles over the 3 year apprenticeship (you'll also have an additional 6 months for end point assessment), and so gain experience from different areas across Accounting, Finance and Tax. Every role is different, but each one will require strong numerical skills and high attention to detail, which you’ll put into place in a fast-paced environment and working to deadlines. In order to explain complex topics to your business partners and stakeholders, good communication skills are also essential.
As a Finance apprentice at Amazon, you’ll gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills. You will work towards the the L7 Apprenticeship standard- Accountancy/ Taxation Professional Apprenticeship standard, as well as certification from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
Key job responsibilities
You will be combining working in your assigned team as a Finance apprentice whilst continuing your studies to achieve your qualification. As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You will be set goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.
You will build your skills over a 42-month period, starting in September. These skills will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will be made up of classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning as well as mentoring from our experienced team members.
As you progress through your apprenticeship you may have exposure to:
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting.
- Assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
- Collaborating with senior accountants and financial experts, conducting financial analysis and reporting.
- Managing financial records and data.
- Partnering with business teams on strategies and initiatives
- Participating in real-world financial projects
- Providing financial insights and recommendations to stakeholders
- Staying updated on changes in financial regulations and standards.
In this program, you will develop a deep understanding of accounting principles, laying a strong foundation for financial expertise. The curriculum encompasses the intricacies of budgeting and forecasting, guiding you in creating budgets and making accurate financial forecasts crucial for effective financial management. A significant aspect involves building and maintaining strong relationships with teams and stakeholders, emphasising the importance of client relations in the field of accountancy.
As you progress, you will master the art of financial analysis, honing your skills in analysing financial data to make strategic decisions that contribute to organisational success. The program also ensures your proficiency in financial software, equipping you to navigate and manage financial databases efficiently. An essential component covers regulatory compliance, instilling an understanding of the legal and ethical aspects of accountancy. This ensures that you act in the public interest and maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and competency. Additionally, the curriculum imparts expertise in taxation, providing you with the knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of taxation and its impact on financial decision-making.

For the apprenticeship program we prioritize applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:
- Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
- Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the program
- Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2024 or later
- 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (A*-C) or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English
- 3 A levels or equivalent at grade BBC or above
- *You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship
Please note, you will be required to evidence your qualifications. If you have gained qualifications outside of the UK you will be required to evidence that they are equivalent.
Note: This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has some or little knowledge/experience of the occupation, and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have a similar or higher-level qualification in the same or similar subject of the apprenticeship. Your recruitment process will start with your online application. You’ll be asked to upload your CV, answer some questions that will help us to ensure your eligible for the programme and finally you’ll complete a short online assessment.
You will then be invited to complete a game-based assessment, to assess your suitability for an apprenticeship role at Amazon.
To get to know you beyond your CV, the next stage of the process will be our online evaluations. You’ll complete 3 video questions to tell us more about you, your motivations and any transferrable skills you have.
As a last step, we will invite successful candidates to an assessment centre where you’ll get the chance to meet the recruitment team and the hiring teams that align to the programme you have applied for. As part of the assessment centre, you may be expected to take part in a group exercise, a presentation, 1 to 1 interviews and other tasks relating to your chosen programme. After you’ve attended the assessment centre, the recruitment team will be in contact to confirm the outcome of your application.
