- Significant experience in financial and tax management, accounting including in statutory reporting within a global group.
- Proven high level of numeracy and analytical skills combined with a strong in-depth technical knowledge of Spanish accounting standard and practices.
- Demonstrated integrity, honesty and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience in the financial management, monitoring and reporting of EU-funded research projects.
- Sound interpersonal, negotiation and customer service skills with a demonstrated ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills both in Spanish and English and ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with people at all levels.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of team, and autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Significant high-level ability to understand complex issues and resolve problems through logically applied solutions and foster a high performing culture with a continuous improvement mindset.
- High level computer skills, including accounting spread sheet database and word processing programs (Microsoft Office). Knowledge of Workday would be an advantage.
- Preparation of financial and management reports for a range of stakeholders on the RMIT Europe and RMIT University’s financial assets and including the review and provision of regulatory and compliance advice
- End of month management including preparation and posting of month end accruals, review, accounting posting and payments of salaries, transactional processes, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting, revenue recognition, etc.
- Reconciliation of all company accounts and if needed timely corrections of data
- Prepare and provide timely management reporting of Profit and Loss, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet, Capex, Headcount, Taxes
- Management and compliance with local government reporting requirements and tax filings via utilising external tax specialists
- Preparation of budgets including scenario modelling and providing data to the University in a timely manner
- Financial modelling and advice of various complex projects, including but not limited to management of company revenue and inter-company transactions, research revenue and acquittals of international contracts
- Accountable for the financial management of EU-funded research projects including official financial reporting to European Commission, leading internal and external audits, preparing internal monthly financial reports, checking eligibility of costs and providing expert advice to projects’ staff on all financial and compliance matters.
- Drive the development and improvement of RMIT Europe’s financial processes and procedures
- Other duties within the scope of role as specified by the Executive Director and Associate Director, Planning and Resources

The Finance Manager is a key member of the Operations team of RMIT Europe - a separate legal entity that is a wholly owned subsidiary of one of the largest Australian University.
The position is responsible for ensuring that the University’s taxation, management and statutory reports comply with all financial accounting, taxation and governance requirement. The role is also required to manage the day-to -day accounting and reporting management of RMIT Europe and enabling Central Finance in RMIT University to have accurate timely and relevant information on financial accounts and governance matters.
The Finance Manager is also responsible for presenting quarterly financial reports to the RMIT Europe Board and for managing payroll. The Finance Manager is also accountable for the financial management of a portfolio of EU-funded projects with the support from two Finance Officers. In addition to in-depth experience and technical knowledge, in this role you will require a hands-on approach, a positive ‘can do’ attitude, the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Impeccable attention to detail, critical thinking skills and creative problem solving are also essential.
