Job Description

- Responsible for the review of all annual statutory financial statements on a legal entity basis ensuring all audit and local filing deadlines are met, and for coordinating the preparation of any other tax filings (income taxes, VAT) or other local reporting obligations (ex: Banque Centrale Reporting)
- Develop and maintain governance, internal guideline and procedural documentation relating to the STG business
- Acting as a Finance Business Partner to the Business, Risk, Compliance and Finance
- Managing enhancement delivery by actively participating in all new system, and product implementations to ensure all STG implications are appropriately addressed and incorporated into the STG process and procedure documentation. Provide sign-off on new and amended product approval (NAPA), business and system infrastructure initiatives impacting STG
- Independently managing time and work flows
- Ensuring enhancement benefits are realized
- Ensuring effective communication within the team and to senior management
- Ability to fully understand complex transactions and proactively develop product knowledge
- Ability to break down and fully understand complex transactions and their payoff formulas

- Monitoring of Key Controls and Reconciliations
- Key contact for all Luxembourg related audit queries as well as tax filings.
- Responsible for structuring projects, planning programmes, implementing strategy and efficiency
- Supervision, Review and signoff on sub-ledger and main ledger, Balance Sheet preparation and analysis
- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

- Part or Fully Qualified CIMA/ACA / ACCA / CFA
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals required
- Strong MS Excel skills required, other financial systems experience a plus
- Strong plain vanilla derivatives product knowledge and financial risk awareness
- Minimum 4 years experience in financial services industry highly preferred
- Responsible attitude with sound time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines

About Product Control
Product Control is a global function with c700 staff based in London, New York, South Africa, India and across the Asia Pacific region. Product Control is primarily responsible for understanding, substantiating and controlling the daily trading balance sheet and income statement for Barclays Investment Bank. This includes;
The production of a comprehensive daily trading P&L and balance sheet
The execution of regular independent price verification, ensuring that the appropriate accounting principles are applied
Partnering with the firm’s business areas and other support groups in facilitating new products and initiatives
Developing and reporting management accounting information
If successfully appointed you will be joining a team who will be enhancing process, reporting and controls whilst ensuring the flawless execution of BAU. The team will also balance the delivery of critical projects whilst identifying those that are strategic and those that are tactical.

Overall purpose of role
Barclays Luxembourg was established in 2006 and the business has grown significantly since then. Currently there are circa 60 people working in Luxembourg including colleagues from Markets, Treasury, Compliance, IT, HR, Finance, Middle Office and Trade Capture Utility.
The role will require taking ownership for the financial control work-streams within the Strategic Transactions Group (“STG”) in Luxembourg:
