      Position Details:

      The Opportunity:

      This position provides management and leadership of day to day services including accounts receivable and payable, purchasing, budgeting, personnel, payroll, travel, property inventory, record keeping, auditing, analysis, and grant and contract administration.

      The USDA-ARS-ADRU is embedded within the CVM and is unique among other USDA-ARS units across the country. This unit brings in more than $6 million in USDA intramural funds and has formed a long-standing, productive livestock research partnership with VMP. In close collaboration with VMP, this unit focuses on livestock diseases of critical importance to state and regional stakeholders, and the work is central to the WSU land-grant mission. Key financial elements of this partnership are annual USDA Research Support Agreements and non-Assistance Cooperative Agreements. These complex research accounts totaling in the millions are managed and overseen by the VMP Finance/Budget Manager.

      As Finance/Budget Manager, this position supervises two departmental financial staff positions and oversees annual departmental expenditures of $10 million.

      Additional Information:

      This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime exempt.

      Monthly Salary:

      $6,255 - $6,917 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

      In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

      • Demonstrated experience using accounting information systems and/or applications software.

      • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.

      • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

      • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience in the administrative, financial, and/or personnel management functions in a university, educational or public institution setting.

      • Five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in the position description.
