Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

The future is exciting for Centrica Power! We will be energising a greener, fairer future by investing in low-carbon energy assets that will enable the energy transition across the UK and Europe.

Over the coming years we'll add value to the Centrica portfolio by investing in areas and technologies that enable the energy transition and that offer superior returns. For example, we're generating zero-carbon energy through solar and other assets, using gas peakers and battery storage to balance the demand for energy, working with our partners EDF to manage our 20% stake in the UK’s nuclear fleet and even investing in exciting new technology such as liquid air energy storage.

Our superpower that sets us apart from our competitors, is that we can leverage Centrica’s position as a uniquely integrated services and solutions company. By working closely with our colleagues, we will transform the energy landscape and play a leading part in transitioning to a net zero future.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our team. In this role you will focus on providing support to the Financial Controller and the Financial Control Manager of Centrica Power to ensure that the highest standards of financial control are applied across Centrica Power.

You will have allocated responsibilities for financial accounting, financial controls, financial governance, and financial integrity within Centrica Power, including supporting the wider business with ad hoc requests.

This role provides the Financial Control Team with robust and accurate financial reporting of current and historical performance in Centrica Power. You will work with the business teams, facilitating interaction and knowledge transfer where required between the business teams and wider finance teams.

Location: We work flexibly in line with our Flexible First working arrangements believing that empowered colleagues are happier and more productive. The successful candidate will, however, need to be comfortable commuting to our Windsor office as needed.

      Key Accountabilities:

      • Accountable for all transactional, accounting & reporting of current/historical activity across Centrica Power including coordination and performance of all of month end and post-month end accounting activities.
      • Carrying out balance sheet reviews and reconciliations across the Centrica Power business, pro-actively identifying and communicating risks and opportunities upwards.
      • Understand and apply the appropriate Centrica accounting policies for Centrica Power, including application of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 to accurately account for customer contracts as well as IFRS3 and IAS16 to accurately account for our acquisitions and capital expenditure.
      • Assisting the Centrica Power Financial Control Team with maintaining the financial control framework, including the continual development of the financial control environment and ownership of key financial controls.
      • Pro-actively identify improvements to our processes and opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation and integration of financial systems. Drive towards automated and enhanced reporting, leveraging Office365 tools (e.g. Power Query, Power BI).
      • Support the twice-yearly external audit of Centrica Power and all statutory audits of Centrica Power legal entities.

      Here’s what we’re looking for:

      • Proven ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise workload.
      • Recently qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA or ACA). Part-qualified with experience would potentially be considered.
      • A drive for continuous improvement and stakeholder support.
      • Have an analytical mindset to be able to interpret data and produce meaningful insight.
      • Pro-active, flexible, and motivated.
      • Advanced excel skills.
      • Knowledge of Power Query and Power BI would be an advantage.

      Why should you apply?

We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.
