      Accounting team is looking to add Financial Accountant to their team. The Financial Accountant III under direction processes complex accounting and financial work, maintains accounting records, and prepares financial reports. Position work hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, or as work requirements indicate.

      Generally, work can be done off-site without loss of productivity and efficiency. Employees in these positions may request remote schedules/locations utilizing the AWL process. We expect that full-time remote work may be available in cases where such arrangements meet the operational needs of the department and benefit the department and the University.

      Responsibilities

      • 50% Reviews daily cash flow and prepares accounting entries for processing in the accounting systems. Classifies, codes, posts, and balances financial and accounting documents and records.

      • 25% Reconciles credit card clearing and GL accounts on a daily and monthly basis for accurate accounting

      • 10% Responsible for billing/collecting departmental accounts receivable on a monthly basis.

      • 10% Assists with the preparation of the Annual Financial Report and internal and external audits
        Performs complex accounting work to include recording, examining, and analyzing of financial records, documents, or reports. Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and completeness..

      • 5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

      Required Education and Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      • Four years of related experience.

      Preferred Education and Experience

      • Six years of related experience.

      • Experience in higher education using USAS, Banner, and FAMIS is preferred.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

      • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

      • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

      • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

      Other Requirements

      Ability to apply rules and regulations in a complex environment. Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

      Salary

      Commensurate with experience

      The target base annual salary is $48,120 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
