      FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING:

      Under the direction of the Financial Accounting Supervisor, assists in both the technical and functional support in the monthly financial system close, and system code block maintenance which includes maintaining the integrity of the financial data in the Company’s general ledger system. As part of the monthly financial system close, prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations, participates in subledger tie-out and allocation close processes, supports the revenue close processes, and assists in the monthly financial statement generation (FSGs) process. Other responsibilities include the preparation of certain Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Form 1/3Q schedules, preparation of rate case schedules and requests for information for Texas, New Mexico, and FERC rate case filings, and the submission of the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) Monthly and Annual Form 861. This position may also support the coordination, preparation and filing of the Company’s employee benefit plans’ Forms 5500, financial statements, and related footnotes with the Department of Labor (DOL).

      FINANCIAL REPORTING:

      Under the direction of the Financial Reporting Manager, assists with the Company’s financial reporting to internal management, debt holders, Sun Jupiter Parent LLC (Parent), Sun Jupiter Holdings LLC (Holdings), and the FERC. Assists with Parent and Holdings companies quarterly consolidated financial reporting and year end audit. Assists with annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. Assists with the completion of the employee benefit plan audits and filings of the DOL Form 5500s and assists supervising the financial reporting to external regulators which includes maintaining the integrity of the financial data in the Company’s general ledger system. Additionally, as part of the monthly financial system close, prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations for the Company, Parent, Holdings, and The Electric Company Charitable Foundation.

      EDUCATION

      • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in in Accounting or Finance

      KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

      MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

      1. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; FERC and State Commission accounting procedures and reporting practices; and accounting control procedures.
      2. Ability to prepare financial reports and statements; and effectively research, analyze and interpret accounting pronouncements, exposure drafts and regulatory rules and regulations.
      3. Ability to operate a personal computer and software applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Oracle, PowerPlan, Livelink, and AFRM.
      4. Knowledge of the basic functionality of accounting systems.
      5. Experience in a position as an accountant and/or financial system analyst, with highly technical as well as functional business skills related to the development, operation, and maintenance of financial applications.
      6. Ability to provide guidance to employees in numerous and diverse functions which includes the preparation and filing of financial reports and statements with external regulatory entities.
      7. Ability to apply knowledge of GAAP to the preparation of financial statements, related footnotes, and Forms 5500 for multiple employee benefit plans filed with the Department of Labor (DOL).
      8. Ability to assist with preparation of various schedules for the various benefit plans and perform reconciliations between Company records and those of the Trust.
      9. Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement FASB accounting guidance and principles.
      10. Experience with accounting software packages and proficient in the use of several software applications, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, scheduling and presentation packages. Experience in the Company’s standard packages preferred (currently Microsoft Applications).
      11. Ability to effectively deal with external auditors for the year end GAAP annual audit for the Company and Parent as well as for FERC reporting purposes.
      12. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
      13. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.
      14. Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.

          ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

          1. Assists in the preparation of the external financial filings with the FERC including financial statements, Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) and other mandated financial disclosures following all rules and regulations for a privately owned utility company.
          2. Assists with the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and year end GAAP submissions to debt holders, Parent, and internal management.
          3. Assists in the preparation of the Holdings’ and Parent’s recordkeeping (maintain the general ledger and accounts, maintain the financial books and records, including a trial balance) .
          4. Assists in the Company’s yearly ESG reporting.
          5. Assists in the preparation of the application of GAAP which includes implementing new FASB accounting pronouncements, and any FERC regulatory rules including compliance over internal control procedures.
          6. Assists in the preparation of financial information processed through the general ledger system and related subsystems.
          7. Assists in the preparation of the required financial reporting for the employee benefit plans such as the filing of the annual 5500 and related benefit disclosure for the year end audit(s); serves as primary contact on benefit audits.
          8. As part of the preparation process, ensures the completeness and accuracy of assigned journal entries, reconciliations, and other monthly closing tasks.
          9. Assists in system upgrade implementation efforts and rate script testing.
          10. Assists in the preparation of rates schedules and compliance filings, and interrogatories on historical financial information in rate proceedings.
          11. Maintain accounting code block elements in Oracle and PowerPlan.
          12. Provide functional end user support in the operations and maintenance of various financial systems modules, including Oracle Applications, PowerPlan and Accelerated Financial Reporting Management (AFRM).
          13. Assist in the preparation of the monthly closing of all modules within the financial system, including reconciling subsystems to the general ledger and cost repository. Ensure all financial allocations programmed within the cost repository are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
          14. Assist in system upgrades, patches, and changes to the financial system as needed.
