      FINANCIAL ADVISOR

      OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR

      NorQuesters are difference makers and we're looking for someone who can find ways forward as a Student Financial Aid team in a centralized financial advising group assisting learners from application to graduation.

      Reporting to the Team Lead Student Financial Aid, the Financial Advisor provides guidance, information, and options to help students make informed decisions on funding their education, keeping up to date on current internal and external funding options, processes, and policies to provide consistent and accurate information to students.

      HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

      • Provide funding advice, information, and assistance, in person, over the phone and electronically, to applicants and current students.
      • Assist students with understanding and completion of forms related to funding.
      • Provide general information on tuition and fee deadlines, adds/drops, and withdrawals.
      • Advise students on financial related issues including tuition and fees, and account balance.
      • Refer applicants to other internal departments including student association and student support services.
      • Understand policies and processes related to funding options, loans, and grants.
      • Confirm course enrolment for student grants.
      • Provide financial counseling to students through one-on-one interactions and group workshops.
      • Discuss financial implications when lack of academic progress or course/program withdrawal occurs.
      • Advise students of student loan payment options.
      • Follow-up with students regarding funding options and issues as well as application completion.
      • Access external government financial systems to assist students with financial application process.
      • Contact external funders on behalf of students.
      • Connect students with Retention Advisors for course planning.
      • Connect students with external resources.

      WHAT YOU BRING

      • A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline.
      • 3+ years experience in student advising or in a student-centred role in a post-secondary setting.

      • Knowledge of PeopleSoft would be an asset.

      SALARY: $54,028 - $70,193 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) and includes immediate participation in our great benefit and pension programs.
