      The hours for this position will be primarily 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, with some flexibility on start and end times. Provides technical guidance and coordination necessary for the effective delivery of financial aid and scholarships. Determines student eligibility and calculates awards; analyzes student case information to resolve financial aid issues and disputes. Is responsible for student financial aid records security and accuracy. Follows strict fiscal procedures to assure compliance with College Campus, State, and Federal program standards and performance requirements.

      1. Advises and assists students seeking financial assistance regarding the FAFSA (Federal Student Financial Assistance) and scholarship application process, eligibility requirements, and student obligations and responsibilities.
      2. Processes, verifies, and maintains by reviewing FASFA ISIR forms, tax documents, proof of High School completion documentation, drivers licenses, social security cards, birth certificates, passports, signed statements and/or other requested documents needed using appropriate software in accordance with federal regulatory requirements.
      3. Collect and process documentation required for verification of a student’s financial aid application in accordance with federal regulations.
      4. Interact with students in person, over the phone and through email to provide assistance and answer questions.
      5. Maintains and assures accuracy, security and confidentiality of student financial assistance records.
      6. Determines student eligibility, determines appropriate action for students who fail to meet standards.
      7. Addresses student complaints and disputes related to eligibility and disbursements, identifies eligibility options, and assists students resolve concerns regarding maintenance of eligibility.
      8. Assist in preparation of Pell and Scholarship funding by calculating award amounts and adding funds to student accounts in Northstar.
      9. Maintains current awareness of regulations, policies, and procedures through Financial Aid Services governing technical aspects of financial assistance programs and recommends procedures to assure proper compliance.
      10. Collaborate with Student Services to assure ease of enrollment, by verifying eligibility and answering questions.
      11. Participate in FAFSA nights and/or other functions to promote Financial Aid.
      12. Monitoring financial aid software on a daily basis.
      13. Attend training workshops and conferences in order to learn and stay current on financial aid regulations and processing.
      14. Performs other duties as required.
      • Graduation from High School or equivalent.
      • Two (2) years of customer service experience.
      • One (1) year of student-facing experience.
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
      • Requires skills in verbal and written communications, customer service, and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds, explaining details of financial aid eligibility and options.
      • Understanding of federal confidentiality regulations (FERPA and Title IV) and how they are applied to financial aid services.
      • Ability to operate various office equipment and proficiency with various software applications and management systems related to record-keeping and bookkeeping, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Ability to deal effectively with stress associated with work responsibilities and time deadlines.
      • This position may be required to work flexible schedules to meet student demands.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Associate degree preferred.
      • One (1) year of financial aid experience preferred.
      • Basic knowledge of these software applications, such as a student information system (SIS), financial aid management system, customer relationship management system (CRM), etc.
