- Req#: 533772
- Interprets and responds to questions specific to the student situation as well as answering questions regarding rules, regulations, policies and procedures for financial aid programs.
- Makes recommendations to the Customer Service Lead to resolve complex and non-routine problems through reasoning and judgment; accountable for the promised outcomes and follow-up communications to the students they help.
- Provides significant help with the initial processing of thousands of financial aid application support documents used for the review of all aid programs administered or maintained by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Department; advises students about required support documentation needed to complete the application process and suggests alternatives when presented with non-routine items.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Equivalent to four (4) years of full-time, general office clerical and administrative support experience that has provided the applicant with the knowledge and abilities listed.
- Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year for year basis.
- Thorough knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; office methods, procedures, and practices; and university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
- Ability and specialized skills to: coordinate many different administrative duties; interpret and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures; set deadlines, priorities, and complete projects accordingly; draft and prepare memoranda and correspondence.
- Ability to keep moderately complex records and files; screen mail, telephone calls, and visitors; maintain confidential files; perform standard business math, track financial data, and make simple projections.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; and operate standard office equipment and software.

- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3505 - $3745 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3505 - $5508 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
- TEMP: This is a Temporary-renewable position, end date to be determined.
- The position is currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.

- This position is a sensitive position as designated by the CSU.

Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Financial Aid Representative/Gain Liaison is responsible for providing support and assistance to CalWORKs/Gain student participants to meet compliance requirements with the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services (DPSS). The incumbent serves as frontline staff and directly interacts with students providing complex information and instructions in a calm and positive manner.
