      The Opportunity

      The Financial Aid Specialist I supports the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid. You will process financial aid following all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. You will report directly to the Associate Director of Financial Aid.

      In this Role You'll Get To:

      • Complete specialized training to gain complete understanding of the financial aid cycle, federal regulations and all aspects of internal and external compliance.
      • Review student files before awarding to complete any federal or institutional verification, C-Flag requirements.
      • Evaluate student files for eligibility of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs.
      • Review documentation surrounding unusual circumstances by making adjustments or revisions to costs, need, or dependency status.
      • Identify missing, incomplete, or incorrect student information and resolve through communication with the Student Finance Counselors.
      • Troubleshoot processing problems and technical issues with regard to the system and Colleague software.
      • Consult with the appropriate resources.
      • Other responsibilities as assigned.

      What we're Looking For:

      • Employment is dependent upon successful access to the National Student Loan Data System, which requires all federal student loans to be in good standing and not in default and a credit check to review that student loans are not in default
      • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience
      • Experience in a processing or financial aid environment or equivalent education and experience
      • Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel (can perform complex functions), and Outlook

      Other Qualifications:

      • Areas of concentration may include verification/c-flag, packaging, loan revisions, direct loan and return of Title IV management, financial literacy or student loan debt/default prevention functions
      • Datatel/Colleague experience
