      About the role

      We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our growing Contract Surety team!

      As an Financial Analyst, you will play an essential role in the team’s success by underwriting surety bonds and managing a portfolio of accounts. You will be responsible for analyzing financial statements, evaluating credit reports, preparing written underwriting reviews and work with brokers to develop new business opportunities.

      This is a one-year term opportunity based out of our Winnipeg office.

      What you'll do here:

      • Review bond applications, financial statements, legal documents, bond forms, and other related documents

      • Perform financial analysis by imputing financial information and reviewing ratios and trends

      • Assess risk and appropriately recommend approval of new and renewing surety bonds

      • Build partnerships with brokers and clients, delivering surety solutions at the account level in a professional and responsive manner

      • Prioritize workflow to maximize productivity and meet deadlines

      • Support management in the identification and launch of new programs and initiatives

      • Establish a strong knowledge of construction industry trends, market conditions, and current challenges and opportunities

      • Actively participate in industry functions, forums and events

      What you bring to the table:

      • Completed a college diploma or university degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration or combination of Education and relevant experience

      • Experience working in an office environment would be considered an asset

      • Solid understanding of financial statements

      • Commercial banking, accounting and/or construction experience is an asset

      • Strong analytical thinking skills and attention to detail

      • Effective written and verbal communication skills

      • Ability to work independently and collaborate with co-workers in a team setting

      • Strong business development skills to negotiate with brokers effectively

      • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities

      • Proven track record of desk management and organizational skills

      • Advanced computer skills: MS Office Suite
