- Works closely with the Director, Finance and executes the financial accounting of Foundation investment portfolios and generate ongoing investment reporting across the Foundation’s portfolios and investment pools
- Assists in regular reporting to support key granting / fund management and investment issues and initiatives
- Monitor investment portfolio compliance with PMCF Statement of Investment Policies and Goals and make recommendations to streamline investment related processes and procedures
- Prepare annual investment return allocation based on the endowment payout
- Monitor market trends related to investment return distribution on endowment funds
- Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of annual audit schedules related to grants, investments and funds
- Assist with short term and long term financial and cash flow planning related to Foundation grants and investments
- Provide support in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the financial statements
- Reviews assigned accounts, financial reports, fund or account statements, statistics and/or bank statements, etc., to reconcile to general ledger
- Performs month end, quarter end, and year end journal entries and ensure entries are booked on a timely basis
- Assist with accounts payable and revenue functions including reconciling revenue variances to our CRM system
- Assist with the monthly bank sundry accounts entries
- Gathers and verifies information from various sources and maintains relevant supporting documentation, as required
- Perform bank reconciliations and other general ledger reconciliations
- Completion of quarterly HST filings and assist with T4A and T3010 filing
- Assist in the annual and interim audit, including completion of supporting schedules, as requested
- Preparing the monthly financial packages for all programs
- Create reports from the accounting system to fulfill the needs of stakeholders
- Performs ad-hoc financial analysis
- Develop or recommend actions to raise standards and improve operational effectiveness and consistency through process, technology and /or people capability development
- Performs cross-functional duties and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business
- 3+ years of progressive experience in a financial related field
- Completion of a CPA designation would be an asset
- Accounting/finance experience in the NFP sector preferred
- Experience in analyzing, interpreting, and effectively communicating financial data
- Excellent analytical, problem recognition and creative problem solving skills with a proven ability to take initiative and embrace challenges required
- Excellent in performing reconciliations (bank, general ledger, revenue)
- Expert Microsoft Excel skills is a must (pivot tables, lookup functions, manipulating large volumes of data)
- Experience using Oracle Netsuite financial accounting system
- Exceptional communication skills; ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of management
- Ability to translate quantitative data into value-added analysis and recommendations
- Proven experience building decks and presenting analysis to management

Position Summary
The Financial Analyst, Accounting is a full-time role that will report directly to the Director, Finance.As an integral member of the Finance Department, the Analyst performs a range of entry level professional and detailed accounting requiring basic knowledge and fundamental applications of accounting theory and principles under the monitoring and guidance of the Director, Finance. Key responsibilities include investment reporting, analyzing financial data related to funds and report to stakeholders; supporting the Foundation’s granting / fund management process; performing analyses on a regular basis for a range of individual accounts, as assigned; accurate closing of month end, quarter end, and year end with a focus on revenue and expense/grant accounts; preparing and analyzing financial and/or statistical schedules, statements and reports for distribution to internal clients; liaising with internal clients to exchange information; working cross-functionally to validate information and deliver value-added financial reporting and analysis; and keeping informed about current and emerging accounting issues and trends, including technological changes.
