      Position Description

      The LOB / Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Finance Analyst supports the FP&A Finance Manager by analyzing financial data/variances, standardizing monthly reports for the Line of Business, and performing ad hoc financial activities as needed. LOB Finance Analyst works closely with the FP&A Finance Manager and the LOB leadership to develop short- and long-term strategies and related tactics that augment the Lines of Business financial performance. The LOB Finance Analyst’s responsibilities include financial analysis and decision support, planning and forecasting and management reporting.

      Position Accountabilities

      • The LOB Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting the LOB FP&A Manager in regard to performing financial analysis for numerous purposes including: business performance evaluation, risk identification, controls evaluation, and accuracy of results.
      • Analysis is conducted using standard reports and the development and production of non-standard reports/analyses to support the Lines of Business
      • Analyzes and interprets financial information by understanding the drivers behind the results in order to form well informed conclusions regarding the accuracy of the information, as well as form recommendations to optimize profitability of the business units.
      • Proactively works with the FP&A Manager to provide business partners advice on how to improve profitability, productivity, or efficiency. Includes understanding, articulating and reviewing results to ensure consistency with corporate financial policies and controls.
      • The LOB Finance Analyst collaborates with Atlantic Union’s Corporate Finance teams to ensure the models and tools used for decision support are effective.

      Planning and Forecasting

      • The FP&A Finance Analyst supports the FP&A Finance Manager in the design, development and maintenance of the Company’s periodic forecasting and annual planning processes. The role is a key contributor in the review and analysis of the corporate forecast and plan.
      • The FP&A Finance Analyst works with support unit resources to accurately forecast near and longer-term financial results and identify risks and opportunities to the forecast that enhance management’s tactical decision-making abilities. The role works closely with other Finance partners to include LOB Finance, Financial Accounting, Treasury, Credit Analytics and Data Systems.

      Financial Reporting

      • The LOB Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting the LOB Finance Manager with regards to communicating business unit financial information to the Support Unit executive management team and other areas of Finance and the company. The spectrum of financial reporting includes internal business unit management reporting including certain non-financial measures, support of corporate and bank external financial reporting, including SEC segment financial reporting, as well as in support of investor relations strategies.

      Organizational Relationship

      This position reports to the assigned manager in the Finance Department

      Position Qualifications

      Education & Experience

      • Broad financial background and excellent analytic skills required
      • Banking and Finance related experience and knowledge preferred
      • 5+ years of financial and/or business line experience within the financial services industry
      • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or another business-related field. MBA or Masters a plus
      • Strong strategic and financial acumen

      Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
