  Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Central Accounting, the Financial Analyst will be a member of the Financial Operations, Centre of Excellence Team responsible for centralizing, optimizing, and maintaining financial operational processes; leveraging technology, standardization, and expertise to deliver meaningful solutions for Sun Life (SL) Canada.   What will you do?

  • Primary support of the Canadian Operations’ monthly accounting functions, including, but not limited to, preparation/submission of journal entries, account reconciliations, and documentation/governance

  • Support Chart of Values and Hyperion JIRA requests from across all of SL Canada

  • Participate in accounting and general ledger projects

  • Support the reporting optimization team by helping to gather business requirements

  • Continuously assess and identify process improvements

  What do you need to succeed?

  • College degree and/or relevant experience in accounting/finance

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize and effectively organize tasks to meet tight deadlines

  • A self-starter who can work with minimum supervision and achieve objectives through strong collaboration

  • Discretion to deal with confidential information

  Preferred skills:

  • Understanding of and experience in expense management, Oracle Hyperion Smart View, and SAP

  • Business knowledge and experience related to the insurance and/or financial services industry

  • Experience in a medium to large size organization with multiple divisions and lines of business

  The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
