- Professional knowledge acquired through Diploma/ NVQ Level 4 in Welfare Benefits or equivalent, or substantial current experience of local authority charging policies and delivery of comprehensive welfare benefit advice
- Substantial proven relevant working knowledge of the Welfare Benefit System, through previous employment/volunteering
- Knowledge of the financial assessment process
- Substantial proven relevant experience of frontline service delivery in benefits advice, health or social care

Job summary
We're looking for a motivated individual to visit clients in their own home or call clients to assess contributions for social care services and assist with benefit claims.
To be a FAB Officer it is essential that applicants have knowledge of the benefits system and its implications for Social Services clients, you must be able to exhibit up to date knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities and operational activities of the financial assessment function and adult social care. To include an ability to demonstrate compassion and knowledge when working with families, colleagues and providers to ensure that the finance journey experienced by clients is efficient, accurate, informative and supportive at all times. It is important that delays are avoided and demand is met. You will, ideally, have current experience and be able to demonstrate complete understanding for how a charge is calculated, referring to the appropriate aspects of policy as required.

Main duties of the job
To complete financial assessments and support income maximisation through benefits entitlement calculations for clients in receipts of social care services. Assessment are completed face to face, by phone or in the office.
