      This position is responsible for growing financial education and financial wellness initiatives with Summit Credit Union’s corporate, community and school system partners. The Financial Education Specialist will be responsible for developing and facilitating creative financial education opportunities to improve financial outcomes of young adults and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders including students, teachers, principals, administration, community leaders and high school branch managers to increase youth accounts. They are also responsible for building and sourcing new partnership opportunities that increase awareness of Summit’s Financial Wellness for Employees program; positioning SCU as a preferred financial institution to for youth education and financial wellness needs.

      Essential Functions

      1. Foster & Grow Young Adult Financial Education
        1. Increase reach, build awareness, and facilitate in-person financial education activities for young adults in high schools, universities and community partners
        2. Lead School intern development opportunities as it relates to advocacy with students/faculty/parents to increase engagement and awareness within classroom settings and applicable school events.
        3. Develop, promote, and facilitate Financial Education learning opportunities that equip youth/young adults with personal finance acumen while driving awareness of Summit as a leading resource for Financial Education for high school and college students.
        4. Leads High school relationships, including communications between school contacts and Summit’s Financial Education and Retail teams. Working directly with school branch staff and Branch managers, to grow high school financial education opportunities within existing school locations, to more departments & classes.
        5. Work with School Branch staff to coordinate, implement, and promote school-based events, workshops, and activities that engage students and parents with Summit Financial Education programs, branches, and products.
        6. Promotes the Project Teen Money program within schools and to all community partners supporting students, to achieve maximum visibility and student engagement. Serve as a point of contact for School Branch interns on PTM promotion.
        7. Lead the development and delivery of financial education workshops and seminars in schools branch sites and other partner high schools.
      2. Drive growth and expansion of Financial Education and Financial Wellness for Employee’s business development and service efforts.
        1. Creates strong partnerships across Summit’s departments including Marketing, Retail, Business Services, SFA, Mortgages and Operations to build awareness of programs, provide convenient onsite account opening, facilitate joint seminars to further drive cross-departmental goals and to learn about opportunities that create more robust educational partnerships.
        2. Identify and secure grant partnership opportunities that align with Summit’s financial education approach; to strengthen existing partnerships and foster new opportunities
        3. Act has main contact for SCU and manage all parts of the project to completion per grant requirements
        4. Works closely with the VP of Financial Wellness & the Financial Wellness Specialist to identify and secure new financial wellness partners
        5. Utilizes CRM and department calendar to track engagements, contacts and outreach efforts
        6. Represents and promotes Summit’s financial education and wellness offerings at community and corporate business development events as directed.
        7. Continuously scans the financial and corporate wellness environment for emerging trends, best practices and opportunities.
      3. Develop, promote and facilitate financial education and employee coaching sessions by identifying member goals and assessing gaps; further driving awareness of Summit’s products and services.
        1. Serves as a co-facilitator for Financial Wellness events & public webinars.
        2. Contributes industry knowledge to enhance the development or improvement of financial education sessions
        3. Provides feedback from community partners on areas of improvement and financial education topic gaps.
        4. Serves as a financial resource to internal employees, providing coaching, education and guidance to improve their financial picture. Serve as a liaison with vendors on event-related matters.
        5. Secure and monitor quality incoming leads on an event-specific basis.
        6. Have a pulse on appropriate events across the state of Wisconsin and in the Midwest making regular recommendations for updating the event plans & education.

      Additional Functions

      1. Assist with additional projects and other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.

      Job Specifications

      1. A combination of 4 years of experience in the following: teaching at the elementary, middle school or high levels, youth recreation programming or leadership, tutoring, counseling or providing assistance to children, and working with community nonprofit groups or experience in a financial institution.
      2. Proven track record of business and community outreach; experienced in representing their company, while having the ability to generate and drive new business from these relationships.
      3. Experience in establishing and maintaining productive business relationships by demonstrating punctuality, courtesy, tact, thoroughness, and professionalism in all interactions with employees, members, prospective members and vendors.
      4. Ability to work and solve problems independently
      5. Strong critical thinking and decision making skills
      6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player while using discretion and sound judgment in decision making and problem solving. Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills and have the ability to set priorities.
      7. Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated through strong composition and grammar. Must be able to effectively communicate and discuss complex ideas at all levels of the organization
      8. Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality regarding member-related information.
      9. Leadership qualities, with ability to inspire others to develop and grow their skills.
      10. Creative problem solver, sales focused, self-starter, positive, and is highly motivated.
      11. Ability to prioritize a wide range of responsibilities and handle multiple tasks and projects accurately and completely while meeting conflicting deadlines.
      12. In depth knowledge and understanding of Summit Credit Unions products and services.
      13. Knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations, rules, policies and bylaws that govern or effect the operations.
      14. Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time across Summit’s geographic footprint and corporate partner locations and a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation available for use in accomplishing job requirements.
      15. Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
      16. Three to five years of financial institution experience
      17. Bachelor’s degree required, in education/child development, social economics or related field required
