      Expected proficiency/intimate familiarity is:

      • FIPS 140-3 requirements and how to determine a module’s conformance to requirements as they come up during the validation process.

      • Algorithm Testing

      Familiar with FIPS 140-3 validation process. Should be able to talk candidly about experiences from these validations to show understanding of the process and requirements.

      Here the phases of validation that are not all reflected on the CMVP’s flow chart.

      Design Review – Able to participate in reviewing a module’s source code, design documentation, and draft Security Policy to determine conformance to FIPS 140-3 requirements.

      Algorithm Testing – Familiar with CAVP testing process and ACVTS.

      Capabilities registration

      Vector generation

      Vector validation

      Metadata object management

      Certification

      Updating certificates

      Entropy Testing – Knowledge of determining module conformance to FIPS 140-3 IG 9.3.A.

      (It is common for other labs to only have entropy SME’s, so in-depth entropy knowledge is not expected but is highly preferred). Familiar with SP 800-90B and associated IG requirements. Familiar with ESV submission process and ESVTS.

      Operational/Failure testing – Will participate in execution of operational/induced failure test plans for the FIPS 140-3 Derived Testing Requirements.

      Physical Testing – Will Conduct testing of hardware modules against FIPS 140-3 physical security requirements, participated in drafting a Physical Security Test Report, and has reviewed other PSTR’s. Preferably has tested up to physical security Level 3.

      (Like entropy, some labs have dedicated physical security staff, so it might be the case where a senior candidate has never conducted physical testing themselves. In such cases, the candidate would still have been expected to have reviewed a physical security test report or show some familiarity with the basic requirements.)

      Report Drafting – Familiarity with WebCryptik and the CMVP’s expectations/conventions for report content and formatting.

      Coordination – Has participated in responding to and resolving CMVP comments to receive the final validation certificate.

      CVP certified.

      Minimum expected proficiency/intimate familiarity is:

      • FIPS 140-3 requirements and how to determine a module’s conformance to requirements as they come up during the validation process.

      • Algorithm Testing

      • Operational/Failure Testing

      • Physical Testing (if applicable)

      • Report Drafting

      • CVP certification preferred.

      These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

      Experience with VHDL and Verilog languages.

      Experience with debugging (GDB, WinDBG, Visual Studio, etc.).

      Experience with statistical analysis of entropy sources.

      Knowledge of OpenSSL and/or OpenPGP.

      Vulnerability Analysis and/or penetration testing experience/expertise.

      Strong knowledge of computer security principles and best practices.

      Strong English (both oral and written) skills.

      Related certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP/JNCIE).

      Knowledge of Active Directory and Linux.

      Hands on experience using tools such as an oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter, signal generator, etc.

      Knowledge of X.509 certificates and their attributes as well as protocols such as CDP and OCSP.

      Experience setting up networks and familiarity with subnets and routing.

      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

      Require BS degree and 4 years of prior relevant experience in order to operate within the scope contemplated by the level

      Pay Range:

      Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
