90-DAY NOTIFICATION
WRITTEN MULTIPLE-CHOICE EXAM: Week of March 3, 2025
JOB SIMULATION EXAM: During the week of April 14, 2025 excluding weekends
DURATION OF THE LIST: This examination will establish a Departmental Promotional list to fill vacancies, which may occur from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027. In order to test for the eligibility list, employees must meet the current job requirements by December 31, 2024.
EXAMINATION/SELECTION PROCESS:
Written Multiple-Choice Examination-30% (Passing Score 70), Pump Chart Examination- not weighed, Pass/Fail (Passing Score 70) and Job Simulation Exam-70% (Passing Score 70 per evolution)
Individuals interested in this position must submit an on-line application to Human Resources NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM ON THE POSTED CLOSING DATE. In addition, copies of the following must be attached to the on-line application via WORD or PDF format or emailed to Xuan.Rodriguez@ClarkcountyNV.gov no later than 5:00 PM on the posted closing date: AEMT certification/license, proof of passing the Fire Department's drivers certification test (CCFD Fire Engineer Academy Certificate), current driver's certification/CDR, and current Class B or C with F endorsement driver's license or its equivalent. The aforementioned required documents will not be accepted by fax. Failure to provide ALL required documents will result in removal from the recruitment process.
The selection process will consist of a written multiple-choice exam, pump chart exam, and a job simulation exam. The pump chart exam will be taken during the same scheduled time frame as the written multiple-choice exam. Only those candidates who score 70 or above on the written multiple-choice exam and pass the pump chart exam will be sent forward to the job simulation component (Rodeo, Aerial, and Pumping Evolution) of the exam. Only those candidates who score a 70 or above on the written multiple-choice exam, the pump chart exam, AND the job simulation exam will be placed on the eligibility list. Please note the job simulation consists of 3 components and each evolution must be passed with a 70 or above individually to remain in the examination process.
The written multiple-choice exam and the first component of the job simulation exam will be based on the following books and sources, and no other material will be utilized:

Education and Experience:Effective 10/14/2024: Graduation from high school or its educational equivalent and three (3) years of experience at the Firefighter level, AEMT certification/license, proof of passing the Fire Department's drivers certification test (CCFD Fire Engineer Academy Certificate), current driver's certification/CDR, and current Class B or C with F Endorsement Driver's License or its equivalent.
The Firefighter will be eligible to participate in the Fire Engineer's certification process after completing two (2) years as a Firefighter. After completing three (3) years in grade, the Firefighter will become eligible to take the Fire Engineer's test. The test will generate an eligible list that will be in effect for two (2) years. The cutoff time for the completion of three (3) years in grade is based on a calendar year ending 12/31 of the year preceding the date of the test. AEMT certification must be maintained for the duration in grade.
Licenses and Certifications: Current Class B or C with F Endorsement Driver's License or its equivalent; pass fire department driver's certification test and have a current driver's certification/CDR. AEMT certification/license.
Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide HI B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.
Note: It is a condition of employment that any fire service employee hired into the Fire Department after January I, 1993, not use tobacco in any form.Responds to fire alarms as a vehicle driver; places vehicle in most effective position; hooks up and connects hose at pump; operates pump; insures pump is at proper pressure and water flow; operates ladder or snorkel power lift and other equipment as required; cleans and services assigned apparatus; maintains equipment in ready condition; reports mechanical failures or difficulties to a superior; assists in maintaining station log and preparing reports on equipment maintenance; prepares and updates a fire map book showing fire districts and water hook ups; performs general maintenance and cleaning work in the upkeep of department equipment, apparatus, furnishings and structures.
