Job Description

- Be part of the national team that intimately understands Fire Engineering principles, calculation methods and advanced software modelling tools that can be applied to satisfy performance objectives
- Lead projects for the discipline
- Fire protection mentoring and training for more junior staff
- All aspects of Fire Protection including; wet fire services, dry fire services and gas suppression when required
- Act as the local Fire & Life Safety lead within large multi-disciplinary design teams primarily within the built environment market
- Develop cost effective, pragmatic fire safety engineering solutions and negotiating with the relevant authorities on behalf of our clients
- Maintain and grow relationships with key stakeholders including clients and other design consultants
- Experienced in the delivery innovative, highly efficient performance-based solutions, supporting clients from the conceptual Design phase, final Design phase to Construction
- Relevant Fire Engineering qualifications and working towards obtaining relevant registrations
- Familiarity with National Code of Construction associated Australian standards and Fire Engineering technical publications
- Adaptable and positive mentality with an ability to manage themselves and others in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of building services and building regulations
- Experience working with:
- Computational Fluid Dynamics applications
- Egress modelling software, and
- Other calculation methodologies with respect to smoke development / movement, radiant heat spread, egress and the like

Fire Protection Engineer – Buildings
Aurecon is an Engineering, Design and Advisory consultancy with a presence across the commercial buildings sector. We have 180 kiwis across Aotearoa in Buildings. We’re a multi-disciplinary organisation with a collaborative culture.
What’s the mahi?
We are looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to provide assistance in the development of performance-based and alternative Fire Engineering solutions for clients. Approach problems using advanced fire engineering principles and science to protect occupants, properties and buildings from the effects of fire and smoke instead of simply ensuring that it complies with a prescriptive design document. This role will have responsibility for supporting our local fire engineering offering as part of a nationally networked team.
