      POSITION SUMMARY:

      Responsible for the initiation of fire attack and extinguishment, control of fire alarm scenes, patient care in emergency/trauma situations and auxiliary activities executed at field operations level as a Firefighter for the Orlando International Airport complex as directed by the Aviation Authority's Fire Department.

      SALARY: $53,066.00 / $20.41 per hour based on 2600 hours annually. Plus EMT or Paramedic Incentive Pay = (EMT- $3,276 annually) - (Paramedic - $9,022 annually)

      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

      High School graduate or equivalent and a certified Firefighter in accordance with Chapter 633.34 of Florida State Statues and an EMT certification by the State of Florida is required. Firefighter Paramedic certification and experience preferred. Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (E.V.O.C.) is required. Must be a non-user of tobacco products for at least one year preceding application for this position. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.

      Candidates must submit an application including copies of the following certificates:

      • State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance
      • State of Florida EMT or Paramedic License
      • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (CEVO) certificate
      • Valid Florida driver’s license

      Applicants must be eligible to participate in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) Retirement Plan in order to be considered for employment as a Firefighter EMT/Paramedic with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

      Required within 36 months of hire/promotion:
      State of Florida Paramedic License must be obtained within 36 months of hire as a condition of continued employment with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

      TESTING:
      A written examination will be administered Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the First Response Training Group. 6310 Hazeltine National Drive, Orlando, FL. 32822. Applicants selected to participate in the written examination will be contacted by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority via the email address registered on their applicant profile in GOAA Careers.
      The reference materials for the written examination are:

      • Emergency Care, 12th Edition
      • Essentials of Firefighting and Fire Department Operations, 7th Edition.
      • 2020 AHA Guidelines (BLS, ACLS, PALS)
      • PHTLS (9th Edition).

      A Practical Test will be administered for the top 35 candidates on Monday, August 05, 2024, Tuesday, August 06, 2024 & Wednesday, August 07, 2024. Additional information regarding the Practical test and hiring process will be provided during the written examination.

      An interview will be scheduled for candidates that have successfully passed the Practical Test on the week of August 19 – 23, 2024.

      GENERAL INFORMATION:
      Candidates who successfully complete all phases of the Fire Fighter recruiting process will be placed on an active hiring list. The hiring list will be kept active for at least six months for vacancies that will become available.

      **This position requires permanent residency in the United States. Only candidates who are permanently legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship or Temporary Protected Status (TPS)will be considered**
